Hey guys, Im kicking off my 3sgte project in april but I just had a thought. I have a totaled 5sfte sitting down stairs and I’ll be obtaining a 205 3rd gen clip…how hard is it to combine the two? I want to run the 2.2 block and the 3s head. My 5s had about 90k on it and I got it when it had 70…so im pretty sure its in good shape. What is needed and what needs to be done? I have a really good mechanic who would be willing to do the work providing its not like re inventing the wheel.

combining the two mechanically won't be hard. tuning is what will be the hard part. do a search, theres a few that have been done, i belive. I just don't have the link or remember who did it.

350whp? or 350HP on the motor by its self. Either way, your gonna run into a hell of a lot of problems. Look at Ichys car..hes pushing 320 on a fwd car with a stupid sized turbo and he broke a tranny, axels and blew his engine up. unless you got your self a bullett proof tranny and some stupid sticky tires and alot of $ laying around, i dont think your 350HP goal is gonna come.

if i were you, keep the 3rd gen motor and build it to some where in the 200s. If you want a 2.2L 3SGTE, and want lots of power coming out of it, buy one of the HKS or Blitz stroker kits...but just warning you, they are like $7-10K

he never blew a tranny #1.
the axle broke because of oldness, the new ones were fine.
blowing the motor was already happening LONG before he out in the bigger turbo, (he blew the headgasket on the stock turbo)

raz, you dont need a stroker, for your goal, its more hassle than its worth.

350WHP is NOT a far feached goal AT ALL on the 3s, just a matter of proper turbo selection, and good tuning.

I'd have to agree with manny, from all my reading the guys over at mr2oc have been doing it for a long time now. but i hear what you saying valo....i think i may pass on going down this road....see money is not really an issue, but im so excited to get it on the road i dont think i can deal with that much down time and tuning to get that stroker kit or what have you. I'll keep researching though, if its that much of a benifit i will do it.

as far as 350 from the 3s...if theres one thing i learn from watching manny....tuning will get you where you need to be. as long as i take my time, tune and account for ever part i put on the car i think i can run harder than the guys at mr2oc....which is what im shooting for. and you do have a point valo...some super man tires is needed lol.

wasn't there some one here doing something like this? with his dad? i can't remember who...anyone has links?

Thanks manny, you are 100% correct,
the main thing with that much hp is you have to be positive your engine is healthy enough to handle it.
dont take for granted your piston rings from 1991 are in a good enough condition to handle that much pressure.
if you want reliable power you have to do it right or you WILL run into problems.
