Hey to all! I jus bought my first Celica last week, its a White GT (2.0 Litre Engine... 174bhp) its a beast .. I'm really pleased but I've been reading up on parts for better performance and I've got a few questions...
1. What are the benefits of a TRD : Low Temperature Sports Thermostat? 2. I'm going to get some sort of air filter... I was thinking HKS... but whats better, an open air (cone shape) or and drop in filter (same shape as the stock to fit in the air box)? 3. Has anyone got any advice ideas or things I should know about or just cool things I can do to my celica? I'll be adding pics soon!! Any help at all is greatly appreciated! ~Keith This post has been edited by keithg6gt: Jul 16, 2007 - 3:59 PM |

Glad to have you aboard!
what you do to your car is up to you. Browse around the members rides section and find some things that you like the looks of, if you're into modifying the looks. Thats where I got my ideas for my ride. If you're into engine mods, hanging around the boards will give you some great ideas. There are a variety of things you can do to get a more powerful engine if thats what you're into. I always think that getting a great suspension system is key to a nice ride too. It makes the car look cooler, but more importantly it makes it a lot funner to drive. Suspension is the key to a smooth ride, and the returns are a lot greater than engine work, at least I think, in terms of fun for driving. Good luck, and let us know what you end up doing! low temperature sports thermostat? hmm from the sounds of it, just sounds like the thermostat will open at a lower temperature. Not sure how beneficial, not something that will give much or any hp increase, probably helps with engine temp a bit, not something I will pay too much for.
Get a cold air intake setup(CAI) with a pod filter or get a drop in K&N filter for the stock airbox. If you go for a short ram intake(SRI) , make sure you shield the pod filter from the engine heat, otherwise it will perform worse than your stock air filter as it is now sucking hot air. Try a search for pod filter or cai on forums. K&N filters are reusable so it pays for itself abit in the long run. I will recommend suspension mods. Set of lowering springs(Tein,TRD,eibach etc) + new shocks or if you live in a place where lowering is not a good option, get a set of front and rear swaybar. It would help handling alot and make the car much more fun to drive. As it is a new car, I would look at getting all the maintenance work upto date before spending money on mods. Spark plugs, engine oil, oil filter, transmission flush, coolant change, brake fluid, power steering fluid etc etc. |
