It depends on what your end goal is - how much HP do you want to have? Or better yet, what do you want your car to do?

yeah, buy a gt4 - it will likely be cheaper in the long run and you get AWD, which is a huge bonus.
Otherwise, Swapping to the 3SGTE or converting your 3SGE will cost around the same amount. Both have their advantages, but in the end they'll cost the same and give you the same power. The reason I asked about your goals is because you can add a turbo to your motor and run low boost levels giving you a mild increase in power without spending too much money. Its just like turbo'ing the 5SFE, but you have the GE head (better performance) and a turbo-friendly oil pan. -------------------- Scott

I cant buy GT-Four here, the 6gc model that sells here its the ST202 im not shure that wath engine have my car if it a 3SGE or 3SFE... i must buy a 3SGTE from other country and import here... then im so confused about put a turbo on my engine or buy a 3SGTE from Japan or Us...
My engine have 230.000 KM, so y must rebuilt it soon, i can buy low compressionforged piston with carillo conecting rods, standar crankshaft, Turbonetic T4, (im not idea wath to do with the exhaust manifold because some manifold not work on my car because they hit on the alternator, so i was thinking to use the OEM manifold) By other way... if i bring the 3SGTE with ECU i don have any problem because its ready to run and the engine will work fine in any place that i go... if put turbo on my engine i must put some AFC or another fuel controller... i was thinking to put 300-400 HP on my car... with the 3SGTE i will have 230HP that its nice, only need a little of more fuel and some PSI to put it on 300HP Any suggestion!? |

There's a big difference between the 3SFE and 3SGE, thats the first thing you need to determine..
Which of these engines looks more like yours? -------------------- Scott

QUOTE(fran @ Jul 30, 2007 - 6:41 PM) the first engine match with the engine of my car! yeah! im looking for niiice`s HP ^^ Then you have a 3S-FE not the 3S-GE. Anyways go for the Turbo Swap. I had a 3S-GE have replaced it with a 3rd gen 3S-GTE. Never regretted it and never would have tried to turbo my 3S-GE, even if I could source to parts. -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

Ouch, 3SFE - that sucks. All of the economy and none of the performance. 3SGTE is the way to go.
I personally like the 3SGE for big power build-ups. The 3SGTE is definitely the way to go, especially for the 250 to low 300's HP range. Above that, you start to reach the limits of the stock 3SGTE and start swapping parts out.. The CT20B is out of air around 320HP so you need a turbo kit. You upgrade the cams, the ecu needs chipping / replacement, and the cast pistons become concern (though there are a few 400HP motors running a stock bottom end). You end up replacing nearly everything thats makes the GTE different from the GE. So if someone was building a high HP motor from day 1 - planning on getting the engine and immediately rebuilding it with forged pistons and such, then the 3SGE can save a fair amount of cash and give you same building blocks. But thats a rare case, most people buy a motor, drive it, and upgrade it over time. -------------------- Scott
