im looking to get a external wastegate in the future and i am wondering what would be the best sized wategate to use on a 3sgte with the ct26 turbo?? I was looking at a 38mm wastegate would that work fine?

why would you WANT an external gate on the ct-26? the internal gate works perfectly.

because it can never hurt to have better. And this isnt for now in the future.

and see this is why im asking before i just go out and buy one. Im learning rite now and i rather ask questions than screw up.

the problem is... that the ct26 already has an internal gate. so its going to be a little tricky to convert it over to an external one. you might as well wait until decided that you want to upgrade the turbo to do something like that.

I think if your having boost spikes and plan to keep the stock turbo your best bet is to bore out the stock internal WG ports. if it aint broke dont fix it.

Im running a Tial 38mm. absolutely no boost spikes, once it hits 14.5psi it stays there till redline.
