On what tests did it fail, and how close to failing were the others? In short, what were the numbers?

I don't know what you guys are arguing about... but the CAT is one of the most expensive pieces of your exhaust system... taking it off, gutting, destroying it for any reason is pretty foolish considering the potential future costs to replace it. Removing it adds little to no extra power on a relatively stock motor...

And... global warming is real...

My JDM SS-II is actually a 1996 model - and it failed on carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle 2350-2650rpm ...C0 should be <0.30% vol, but mine was 0.57% vol, 2523rpm
Is that too excessive?

Just finished gutting mine, now wielding it back together.
Running aftermarket ECU, so it won't affect me.
and yes global warming is real, but sooner or later the world's going to end anyways.
