hello 6gc! Ill just get into it... Im an artist and I love to draw. Recently ive been drawing pics of musicians of whom I like. My question is this. I draw these drawings from pictures most of the time I find on the net. If I try to sell these works am I infringing on anyones property? The drawings are my rendition for the most part so I would think not, but I really need to know. Here is a site to see my work and let you know what I mean. http://Terzini.imagekind.com/

First of all I like your work.
Secondly, what i would do just to be safe is as the photographers permission to use there work. I'm not positive on the laws as far as using a photo and making a drawing. You probably are fine but again to be safe why not just ask? I think your technically only infringing on someones property if you try to say it is your own. Like if you said here is a drawing i did from a picture i took. on the store that you have you can put a link to the original picture and say ""drawing inspired by (link)" that way if the photographer sees the site they can say oh i am getting credit this way. your totally in the clear. its like when you go by some kiosk of someone doing caricatures and you see there previous renditions of marilyn monroe, or sylvester stallone, or clint eastwood, or angelina jolie, etc.
now if you were to take a photograph of someone else's photograph, and then pass it off as your own, that would not be good..... -------------------- |

hey guys thanks for the comments. So if I were to go and print off lets say Dave from my link and make posters of it and sell them at a concert of his, do you suppose there would be any issues?
