you dont need a new ecu. vortech fmu are reputable. despite what some people will say, on low boost applications, running a fmu with larger fuel pump and check valves is an acceptable (although somewhat crude) fuel delivery system. your car will run just like stock off-boost ie it will idle normally, etc, and it will only increase fuel delivery as boost increases. some people ignorantly criticize fmus as only varying fuel supply based on boost alone while not taking into account engine load and rpm. what they forget is that the ecu will still vary the pulse width of the injectors as it needs to. all you have to do is pick the right size fmu. ive *heard* 12:1 will run rich, so maybe 10:1. but, better to be rich than lean. if you plan on running higher boost, larger injectors, a 2 bar map, and a good tune is the way to go.
