this is my first time doing any audio work and im trying to fit some new speakers, i know this has been covered many times before and the mounts are much bigger than the speakers, but how did you all fit new speakers in? i have 6.5s btw. did you make a custom braket or did you buy an adapter, what are my options? if i make something work it would be best, i dont really have time to wait for shipping lol. someone point me in right direction...thanks

I used a jigsaw to cut some rings out of 1/8" MDF, then sprayed them black. Quick, easy, and works great (if you have the tools to do it)!

I had 5.25's and I ended up making some rings out of 5/8 MDF. I had to cut out this ring of plastic on the door panel and sand the edges of the wood alot but I finally got it to fit.
IMO, I would get some 1/8 (much easier than 5/8) MDF. Measure the diameter of the stock bracket (screw to screw) and cut out a circle. Measure how big you need a circle to fit your speakers in, and drop em in! Basically making a big donut. Secondly, when you take apart your stock speakers, you will notice this black gooey crap. I used a small nail to get it all out and then, when my "donut" was ready, I used some silicone caulk and lined the circle, screwed down the wood, and there ya go! You also will probably need a jigsaw, drill, and, if you want, a circular saw to be more precise. Oh dont forget sand paper.
