I've wished for the same thing for almost 13 years. It hasn't came true yet.

Nice find, I wish that everyday of my life. It's just too bad I owe too much on my current Celica, or I'd sell it and buy a GT4 or SS-III! I just moved to the UK about 5 months ago and I tease myself by going to autotrader.co.uk and looking at all the GT-4s and GT-Rs there are for sale! Amazing!

Kind of missin' my Celica GT! Hit me up if you're ever in my area. I'm always down for a meet.

Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a lot differnet to the US, but there are definitely pros & cons wherever you go! Let's just say, I'm glad I'm not a citizen, b/c coucil tax can kiss my ass!

UK taxes are one of the main gripes about the UK PLC.

haha couldn't have put it better myself!

And that place ain't far from me, I went to them when I was looking for a gt4 and they had 4 advertised but only actually had 1 in. I got - "Oh the others are still in transit"

Don't advertise them until you have them in you gits!

Anyway, I've got one now so all is sweet!

Hmm white steering wheel eh? That'd be filthy within a week or 2 of me owning it!

Yeah, there's plenty of GT-FOUR's up for grabs, shame our taxes (& fuel duty) prohibit most of us from owning one! Then there's the insurance. That's the main reason I've got a GT and not the car I really wanted. Welcome to Rip-off Britain!

Dude you're not kidding about the petrol! <---haha, I mean gas.... Even then, your GTs are better than "our" GTs.

Yeah, it boils my p#ss to think that 90% of what I pay at the pump goes straight in the government's pocket! How are you finding the sunny old UK anyway? Did you bring your Celica with you? If you did, how's your car peforming on the higher octane petrol we have over here? Noticed any difference?

Yeah, the 3S-GE is a good engine, especially JDM version but I suspect that maybe the US cars are maybe de-tuned with the emphasis being more on longevity and reliability, not to mention the octane of the fuel over there? I've seen plenty of US Celica GT's on here with 200K miles on the clock. Over here, if a car has anything like 100K on the clock, it's considered over-the-hill, which of course is cr#p but 200K is a different story.

Old enough, I'm 34 mate LMAO!

Currently paying £525 fully comp with no convictions and 10+ years NCB and believe me, that's the cheapest I could get! Half the insurance companies won't touch my car cos it's an import! mad.gif

The other thing that I have to consider is running costs. I get 30+ mpg in my car but I still pay £250 a month just to get to work!

Wow, all your insurances make mine look cheap! Lol. It's about $430. And that's for my car and my wife's xB! And yeah I brought my car, it's only a GT though. I'd love to get rid of mine here and maybe buy an SS-III....mmmmmm... The petrol is about the same I guess, even though it's only a little higher on the octance. It is having issues at the momemt though.

Issues? Like what?

I think the SSIII (BEAMS) was only available in Japan so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for one of them but they're as rare as rocking horse sh#t. You could probably go for a GT-Four instead. Alternatively you could get a JDM GT for not a lot and they're good for 180 (ish) HP stock. Don't give up on you're GT just yet though!

I think we totally jacked this thread.... smile.gif

Anyways, issues like I'm not totally skilled for the things I want to do and I don't really have the $$ to get done what I need done and I really don't know if I should try to do what I want to do (which is just a tune-up and other random things) b/c that's what my car is for really: a learning experience. I don't know, I could ramble on and on about it. I always think there's something wrong and it just makes nioses and pisses me off often.

GREAT! I'm only 32 so you're older than me yey!
Aye pretty similar to you mate, although my insurance only went up about £60 when I went from the GT to the GT4. My insurance is with Lifesure.
And I have worked out that travelling down to peterborough for JAE the other week cost me 27mpg doing roughly 70 most of the way down - about 220mile round trip.

That's not bad at all! Still, with the driving I have to do (get stuck in traffic a lot) I would probably see low 20's in a GT4. I just can't afford it, well not yet anyway.

Still, it could be worse. A friend of mine went out and bought a modified R33 Skyline GTR (the real deal, not some tarted-up GTS), he gets like 10-12mpg on the combined cycle, ouch!! Still, it's an awesome car!
