Hows it gong guys. I got some problems and was looking for some advice.

I have a 1.8ST car. After years of waiting the car finally has a BEAMS engine fitted by Kev-Gt from
Celica Club.

This is the second conversion he has done. The first was on his own car.

After the engine was fitted the car is vibratin quite bad when taking off at low revs. The car was fitted with a new clutch, timing belt and full service.

Any ideas what the problem could be??? Do Toyotas or the BEAMS come with a dual mass flywheell?? It was a question from my mechanic. the symtoms are very similar to a volkswagon he had recently and traced the problem to a dual mass flywheel.

Cheers.

Yeah, looks like engine mounts. Check whether the originals are cracked or that installed mount inserts.

My mechanic had a look at the engine mount on the opposite side from the battery. this is te one that my mate had to custom make. He says that he think it seems to be doen really well. the only thing he states is that he might have to put in some sort of rubber or somethng between the chassis and mount.

He didn't need to custom make it.

All he had to do was cut the original chassis brackets and move them back a few inches. The stock mount would have worked fine.

The A engines have the R mount in a slightly different place from the S engines.

You can also get a European GT 3SGE rear mount and bracket. (I think from your post that you're from the UK?)

This way theres no question that the mounts are the issue.

Sump sorted now. Still got the rest of the problems with a fresh knocking noise. Been told by mechanic that Wishbones are gone now.
