Hey guys, I was just thinking I wanted to upgrade to some alpine component speakers. My current blaupunkt speakers just arnt as clear as I want them to be... plus I think it would be good to get the new alpine 300max 100rms speakers so they can somewhat keep up with my bass... Anyway, anybody happy with these? I probably wont be putting an amp to them since I already have too much power drawing

This might be a lil off subject, but the stereo places here told me it's a 6 3/4" speakers for my celica. But I keep seeing 6.5" being talked about. So which one is it really? I have a 94 GT Coupe.

Ive only tried type R components and I liked them, kill infinity reference series for sound quality and I think I liked them better than my current JL audio bottom of the line components. Focal speakers kick butt though.

The complete answer is that in a US GT an 8" speaker is an exact fit. I have only come across one 8" component speaker and it is made by Focal (I think the model number is in my profile).

The stock speaker is a 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 with an unusually wide surrounding bracket that makes the total speaker 8", and in order to get a 6 1/2" speaker to fit you need to either purchase an adapter bracket or make one yourself.

Cant believe I couldnt find a sticky on this subject...but this shows you what is going on there: http://www.6gc.net/howto/install_subwoofers_in_front_doors

I have Alpine Type-S speakers in the front and rear. 6.5" I have a 1994 ST coupe, and they had OEM fit. may be different in gt though. I personally don't like the Type-S speakers, I'm upgrading to Infinity 6.5's in the front and rear, and two JL audio subs in the back. sound deadening everything of course.

I have Type R comps in the front and type r coaxials in the back. For the front speakers, you need like an adapter (or something like that) to make it fit properly b/c its like 6 3/4" and the speakers are 6 1/2".
