Hey i was just wondering if anyone swapped their st engine(1.8) for a 2.0 all trac engine. If you did, did u have any problems. I talked to a toyota mechanic and he said as long as you have the transmission and computer compartments it should be pretty easy. Also i was wondering about the cost of hiring a pro to install it. If anyone has any knowledge about this swap please write back thanks.

look at the engine swap list at the top of the page. That will explaine most of it. The engine you are talking about is the 3sgte. Go to www.topshelfracing.com and you can read about that swap. It involves custom motor mounts, which could get pricey.

point taken, Can you buy them from toyota? Also, do they weld up to the same places on the ST as they would on a GT? Jon |

Based on what I have learned on this fine website and many others, what you will need for the exhaust is a downpipe from the turbo and a custom exhaust. I guess the downpipe would have to be custom too unless a front clip includes it. The engine and turbo should fit fine in the car since it came in the gt-4. |

click on swap To clear up a few things. I didn't weld any mounts. You can find the Gt mounts at the dealership, but you may get some mounts with the front clip you buy. With the ST you have to drill the mount holes on the passenger side, but it is marked where you need to drill. The alltrac engine you buy will come with a downpipe, but it's restrictive. You can buy a great downpipe from twm performance. You also need a custom exhaust, b/c there isn't an exhaust setup for the 3sgte swap into a 6th gen celi. You don't need a J-spec crossmember. Your stock celi crossmember works fine and lines up correctly. But you will need the jspec crossmember for the e153 tranny(from what i've heard). |
