I'm reconsidering installing a sub in my car but was wondering, where is the best place to run my power wire through the firewall? In my old car I had to drill a hole, but I had tons of room to do it. This car seems a lot more cramped for space and there aren't many grommets to use.
Where did you put your power wire through? (I'm running 4 ga. to the trunk) This post has been edited by Sinyk: Aug 18, 2007 - 11:37 AM -------------------- |

I ran mine through the rubber piece on the passenger side where the harness goes through. Easy if you already have the fender off. Otherwise, there are easier places to run it.
It's the black wire without loom in that picture. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

My installation was almost the same as yours Coomer, except I did it on the driver side, used the lower of the two grommets and didn't remove my fender, just the tire well plastic.
Just a picture showing where it runs from through the fender. I used Zap Straps to tie the 4ga. wire along the black sheathed wires at the top on the inside of the fender. Here I had the grommet popped out to see if the wire would feed through, and it did. The red dot just shows where I cut a hole in the grommet to feed the wire through. And after the rewiring was complete. I added gold battery terminals, a 4ga. ground wire off the battery and I have the fuse block ready for the 150A fuse (Once I find it... ) -------------------- |

QUOTE(Komail @ Aug 19, 2007 - 11:48 PM) bump some one post more pics....i am currently running the power wires throuht the drivers side floor, then from the door to the fendor, i really want to hide it though... I'm probably going to be running a dedicated 12v line from the battery to run all my accessories (line driver, crossover, etc) that need to be installed and when I do, I will take more pictures of the install and where the wire runs. Found the 150A fuse thankfully. Damn things are like $16 each to replace. This post has been edited by Sinyk: Aug 20, 2007 - 12:44 PM -------------------- |

More Pics
A few pictures from the dry run install. AudioControl Overdrive Line Driver and Eclipse 5442 AudioControl 24XS Crossover, Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2 and Phoenix Gold 1 Farad Cap Kicker 12" Comp CVT shallow mount sub in a prebuilt kicker box. I felt dirty buying a box, but I don't have the time to custom build one (and this one fit right in and I clamped it to my strut tower bar!) I'll have to take some pics now that it's all properly installed and cleaned up. The sub sounds good, but still not close to what my AVI SLS-300 was -------------------- |
