Anyone on here have a scanner light? Pics, how-to? Is it very hard? I'm getting bored with my interior. I did all the lights red: gauge, cig lighter, key ring, climate control, clock. I don't have enough guts to do the auto/short, steering wheel, and can't afford the DIN gauges, but still think those are sweet.

Does the scanner light draw too much from the battery. I'm concerned about this.

Thanks guys!

lol, I guess you guys haven't seen em before. My friends used to have em on their Trans Am and Camaro on their dash. It looks like a little knightrider light, but about 3-4 inches long.

Looks like you have a security system, they look kinda cool. My friends had them on the dash facing the outside of the car on the mirror or dash facing the outside so people could see it as they walked in front of the car. They would have look dumb on my 66 mustang so I never really asked them about it. They come in red, blue, green...etc. I think they sell some on ebay.

But they are called scanner lights.

Nope they are called scanners. Basically its a light that makes the illusion you have an alarm system. A strip of lighting with 4 or 5 led's that scan from one side to the other. You can get them at alot of places, try walmart? canadian tire? they arent too expensive IMO id rather just have neon strips or led strips that dont scan, or move.

You could probably get an electronics kit for a nightrider style scanner from Radio Shack. I designed my own scanner system fro my rear brake light: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...46&hl=brake

He more then likely does have an alarm, he just wants this light for styling inside. There is nothing wrong with that. By the way Beckham is a joke, dont get me wrong he is good at corners and free kicks, much richer than i am, and has a hot wife, but other than that he isnt the best soccer player, and he isnt a great show either.

Coomer set up something like that on the Yelli Celi on the back of the rear-view mirror so when the alarm is on the light scans back and forth.
