the gt-four carbon hold will bolt straight on. but you'll have a gap at the front where it meets the front bumper if you don't get a gt-four bumper as well.
also, if you get the carbon hood, it won't include the hood grill and vents.

my mate is going to do it using his own gt4's hood to take a mould in glassfibre and then do a carbon fibre one. This means it will include all the wents in carbon fibre. So how should I mod it, to get the perfect fit?

im doing a conversion,,, well not a conversion, only the body kit of a gt four
and i have already spent more than 2000 dollars,, heres the list

gtfour hood
gt four bumper
clear headlights
404 sideskirts
jdm tails
trd rear splitters
tein s
404 front lip
and right now im contacting someone who has already got me all the grilles and the plastics and seal that the front end needs,, all this is going to be almost 300,,
so pretty much the total is 2300, and still i havent paint them

but for me there is a good side,,
theres people i know that are waiting for me to change the body kit, so they can get my parts, like the oem hood, bumper, tails, headlights and all that stuff, and its going to be almos half the price i have already spent on my gt four parts,,
so it kind of balances out.

So BottomLine if you use the GT4 front bumper you HAVE to use the hood? I would love to throw the GT4 bumper on my 96 Vert, but think the hood would be a little much.

So I have a question, i'm going to be doing the GT-4 front conversion as well, so far. I purchsed the hood, but i've just one concern, on a rainy day will my engine be ok enduring the rain, i'm actually more concerned about when i'm parked and its raining throughout the night.
What do you guys do? Do you guys drive it out at all when it rains? i've just a driveway and no garage so the car will be outside at all times rain or shine.
As for the rain guard and insulator--should i get them? Will they really stop the rain? I'm still awaiting Randy (97lestyousay) to get back to me and a couple others about if he can still make the GT4 hood vent rain deflector but i read that it won't stop the rain but only slow it down.
I'm concerned of the rust that will be caused in my engine bay.

Everything in the bay should be painted with the exception of
exhaust manifold and misc odds and ends. before cars had under
plastic they were completly exposed under the bay with far worse
corosion protection than we have today. The stock gt4 rainguard has loovers
moisture still gets in just not as much as being completely open. The ones I sold are
more or less a shield keep water from just spraying directly on the wireing.
Water still gets in, but I can hose it off without directly hosing my engine.
The 3sgte won't have a problem being completly exposed or hasn't that
I have heard of anyway.

Does it not fit or just leave a gap? from what I've read there will be a gap between teh stock hod and the GT4 bumper. I figure modification would have to be made to a hood, but technically the bumper would fit on the vehicle regardless correct?

The gt-four bumper WILL fit regardless, BUT without the gt-four hood you will have a gap.

So from what you're saying, everything in my engine bay is painted already and I should probably just spray my exhaust manifold and w/e else with some waterproof rust-prevention solution, and it should be fine leaving it out overnight when it rains as well, that's one of my biggest concerns having that I don't have an actual garage to store my car in. And no, I've only a 94 5S-FE motor, not the 3s motor--i wish biggrin.gif maybe next year.

anyone document/photograp this gap when doing a gtfour conversion. it'd be intersting to see what size of gap i'd be dealing with.

About 1 inch. You will have small mammals nesting in your radiator. kindasad.gif

Hood only, with the bumper only I think you would still have to extend your
stock hood latch or push the cover down every time you open the hood.

yeah it definitely can't stay that way. thanks for the pic, i wonder if anyone has pics of the gtfour bumper with a stock hood. from the looks of your picture though it looks like a gtfour bumper would sit higher up than the stock hood level so something would have to be fabricated to extend the hood after it was raised.

if anyone happens to have a pic of a gtfour bumper with a stock hood it'd be a great help! smile.gif

K guys, just a quick question, I've beent old that i could extend my hood latch or get a LHD gt4 hood latch if i'm going to decide to use my gt4 hood, however, will it matter if the hood latch is from an LHD or RHD st205? they'll both fit and work right?

daftboy had just the bumper with his stock hood for a bit, he just tightened the bolts on the top to not have a gap. looked like hell to use cuz you know what to look for, but to anyone else didnt look too bad. i would not recommend this as it may bend/warp your bumper

just get the hood as well, and the rain guard from randy and call it a day. looks much better =)

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Ah i c, I guess i'll just have to end up going to toyota to get the hood latch then because i dont want to extend my hood latch because i'm a daily driver and may have to drive the car in winter so i dont plan on using the gt4 hood and bumper during the snow season so i'll have to switch back again, but thanks for the help celicaST.

I dunno, thought it might rust up pretty bad or somehow cause water damage if the snow got into the engine bay? no?
