sounds like you have a bad alternator or a crapped out battery that won't charge. or in rare case a combination of both.
If you have a volt meter, measure the voltage when the car is running w/o AC on and then with AC on. You should get 13.x to 14.x volts. If you get something lower than 12.5V, you might have a bad alternator and/or battery. -------------------- ----------------------6GC's FIRST V6----------------------

i should get 13.x volts at idle with the a/c on??
wow i seen mine as low as 10.5 idle w/ a/c and head lights on. usually at about 11.7 idle with the a/c on though. headlights are ALWAYS on. btw, i do have the HID lights.. i have a relatively new(~6months) spiracell yellowtop.. i think i have a bad alt.? i should get 13.x volts at idle with the a/c on?? wow i seen mine as low as 10.5 idle w/ a/c and head lights on. usually at about 11.7 idle with the a/c on though. headlights are ALWAYS on. btw, i do have the HID lights.. i have a relatively new(~6months) spiracell yellowtop.. i think i have a bad alt.? -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated. It really looks like your alternator is gone. You should get it checked soon. You may also have a defective battery or loose connections. -------------------- ----------------------6GC's FIRST V6----------------------

Well, my old battery was actually going deaf, like what the topic starter mentioned, so i got a new battery.. solved the dead problem, but still kinda low. anyway, i get 14.3 at about 2,500RPM though..

I'd get the alternator machine tested, you should be getting much more than 10.5V at idle with AC and headlights. The ECU is suppose to up the idle to compensate for the extra load w/ AC + park lights on (idle up trigger on ECU).

It sounds to me that you need to get your alternator "Load" tested. If it can't handle a load at any engine speed then it is bad. Also the idle up when the AC is on is more for the ac compressor, so that it doesn't kill the engine.
