90% of the time fighting a ticket is not worth the effort. You did something you're not supposed to do and got called out on it, there's little you can say. I'm sure the rule on the grass doesn't have a section that says "You can park on grass in case of gunshots"

this is not an arguing post

i Maturely asked for help

so if you have nothing better to do than please dont post.

BTW: here's a little something i have. review this and get back to me.

Call 892: Citizen Complaint

Parking Violation

MC 8.76.101G. Any vehicle, recreational vehicle or boat parked or stored in a manner not permitted by the zoning regulations set forth in Title 21

Title 21 Purpouse

Title 21 F. To promote safe, expeditious and efficient movement of people and goods, with a maximum of choice in modes of travel and with adequate provisions for parking, loading and the transfer of modes of travel;

What caused me to park there

there was gunshots at Jordan High School while i was doing service learning hours at the football game. I came home and found no parking anywhere on my street so i was not going to do the stupid thing and park my car down the street, so i just pulled up to my grass and left the car there. I woke up around 1129 and found my car being ticketed by the police, i tried to explain the situation but no mercy was shown.

service learning hours are 40 hours of community service that i need to get in order to graduate.

if you have nothing helpful to post than dont post anything.

AT ALL I DONT HAVE TIME FOR OPPOSITIONS AND REDICULOUS OPINIONS.

and fighitng a ticket helps keep 35 bucks in my pocket.

You're only upset because you asked a question and I told you what you didn't want to hear. Sorry my opinion seemed "rediculous" to you. And like you said, these aren't arguing posts.

you told me what i dont want to hear, not the truth but the fact that i should'nt waste my time trying to fight it.

you miss 100 percent of the shots you dont take.

i can always try, it hurts nothing and i lose nothing.

stupid city of long beach, all about money.

u got a ticket for parking on your own grass? thats bs...i park on my grass a lot of times but then again i live in a dead end street so no traffic. over here its allowed during street sweeping. we have 6 cars and only room for 4 so we have to tetris our cars hahaha. im not sure about long beach but cerritos is anal about their parking as well. never park over night in a street there, ull get a ticket for sure.

i got a ticket at newport beach once. parked in a private beach. this friend of mine told me they never checked cars. just my luck i return like 5 minutes later and i get a 50 dollar parking ticket. i typed out a letter to them and mailed it. then they sent me another letter saying if i can prove that it was a legal parking space then they would investigate it further. i said screw it, im not going to drive all the way to newport beach just to figure out if i was ok. plus i knew that it was a private beach so i just coughed up the money. 35 aint that bad. it could have been worse if you did park all the way down the street and got shot at! ghetto long beach.....lol

and i was born there too =p

i think you could write a letter to somebody in hopes that they will reply. let them know in the letter when you have to pay it by so that they know its time sensitive. when you send the letter, also get a receipt for them to sign when they receive it. that way you know they got it and can call/write with them with proof that you did it. it can take time, but im sure that somebody will show you mercy. maybe instead of speaking to the police you could mail it to a city official. or, call the official and have it looked at n make it a bigger thing than it is (talkin bout safety, you are worried about gun violence, etc.) n maybe they might take more action. i dun even know if that will work, but hey, dont really cost much except for your time if you are willing to do it. good luck salvitrucho.

n ray..omg..i know cerritos sucks. everytime i went to a party i forget about the overnight thing n im the only one with a ticket in the morning. lol. damn 35 dollar tickets..

Aw man haha sorry to hear about your ticket for parking in your OWN grass, that is lame. I got a parking ticket at school. There's a sign that says "parking next to sign with permit only from 7am-8pm." Ok so it was 8am and had a parking permit, so i parked next to the sign along with 10-12 other cars figuring that would be ok to park there. Oh wrong was I, i come out for lunch to see my car and 10-12 other cars with parking tickets haha. And we ALL had parking permits! That is so lame laugh.gif . That's $40 I'll never get back, but i would have most likely spent it on something stupid like burritos or tacos or w/e haha. Mmmmm tacos.... Ok yeah, where was I? Oh yes, if you want to fight the ticket, i say you write a strongly worded letter to the city, and be like, "Hey fool! What up with this ticket!? I parked in my own lawn sucka so take your ticket and shove it!" Hmmm.. ok after thinking about it, that's prolly not the best letter...yet. haha, so just try to explain your situation and be able to defend yourself with as many reasons you have possible.

No offense man but if your going to seek feedback, then learn to accept negative criticism as well. Not everybody is going to agree w/ you. Just because somebody says something u dont want to hear doesnt make their input "ridiculous."

I have to agree w/ Akimbo. You can try and bring it to court if you think its worth the trouble but most likely it'll be a big waste of time. If you truly believe that you can fight it and win, then go to court...its just common sense. What else are you supposed to do? Thats why courts exist. You go to court, or you don't, but chances of you winning this is pretty slim, whether u like it or not.

But if its just sympathy you're fishing for..."Aww man that sucks"

I would fight it. The situation seems very understandable, but then again fighting the goverment is hard. Parking enforcement people are farces. All the city cares about is money.

I live in Miami, where I once got a ticket on my own block because I forgot to put on my parking permit decal on the dash showing I lived there. Which was there fault because they didn't want to give me the permanent one that sticks to the front windshield. ****ing assholes. Yet their were like 10 assholes parked on the same block who didn't live there! Just because it was Memorial day weekend, which brings the city a lot of money. So tourist cars didn't get towed I WAS VERY ANGRY! ****ing corrupted ****s.

Man sorry about my rant. I doubt you would win though. Money runs everything, and parking enforcement people are very stubborn.

Where does it say it was his grass? Sounds like campus grounds or something.
