Well I was thinking of ditching the JL's and going with Hertz...... how do you feel about them ? any info please

IPB Image Three way system deriving from the combination of HV 165L woofer, HL 70 midrange and HT 25 tweeter. 3W.10 crossover, specially designed for it, is compact and easy to use; it has high quality components and provides optimised crossover points, insuring the best results in whatever car compartments thanks to the independent adjustment of midrange and tweeter emission level. Given with a rich mounting hardware, HSK 163 is very versatile and can meet various needs.

OH YUM

Some other options might include

Seas

Dynaudio

Scanspeak

Rainbow

While I honestly haven't heard the Hertz firsthand, they are supposed to be very good. I can put you in touch with someone well-respected in your area who sells them and is currently using them. PM me if interested.

Oh, and it sounds like you are intending on using the factory locations...Looks like you are going to need some serious TA!

TA = time alignment. You have HUGE PLD's (path length differences), meaning one speaker is much closer to your ear than the other.

yup i know that....it will suck at first....when i get it all tuned in right it will be good.....i think im not gonna even put in rear speakers...as they are closer to my ear then the fronts

the TA will would be all weird plus its just filler....

Setting any personal preferences aside as to not fuel a "rear-fill debate"...

No need for rears, especially if you're doing a 3-way up front.

Although, that stock mid location would make me consider a 2-way...

Especially considering the work involved to make the door a proper midbass enclosure...

AVI BSM or LMX Tri-star's if you can find them smile.gif

They sell Hertz components at a shop where I live and they sound great, but they are expensive.

I have tried 3ways in a celica and it didnt really work too well. Going back to two way atm.(morel supremo and Seas l18 midbass) .

Yeah, I just use the stock speakers for rearfill whenever passengers are in the car. They are connected to my headunit amp and I just need to flick the headunit internal amp on if I want it.

Not sure about hertz, never listened to a set myself. It looks like you are going to run passive(using the crossover supplied by manufacturer) so you wont be going for Seas or Scanspeak. Rainbow and DLS especially would be nice. Cant really go too far off DLS as far as speakers that sound good out of the box. oh yeah, time alignment is just to delay speakers so the speaker closest to you is delayed and sound reaches your ears at the same time(basically a refined Left-Right fader)
