So i was searching around Ebay and i found these.

I was unaware that they actually made a big brake kit for our Celicas. Has anyone had any experience with these? It's going to be awhile before I would be able to afford these or have any use for them at all.

That one orange rally car has them on. I asked Coomer for a group buy for them but never got a reply back. Was going for $900 for 10+.

Wow i could have totally done $900. But i'll have to wait until i get my new tire and wheel set up. These say they require 17" wheels, so i'll need to upgrade before i can even think about using these.

The page says they aren't recommended for street use.

NO big brake kit is recommended for street use..

why?
because they are USELESS on the street
They will not effectively work at street temps/driving
They will not stop your car any faster

why do people get them?

i would think they would stop your car faster. are you sure about that? not trying to act smart, asking a serious question since i'm not too savvy with brakes.

Well a lot of people do things to their cars just for looks such as supra and curren front ends... haha. smile.gif .

But ofcourse they won't do much in everyday street driving, but i wouldn't call them useless. If things were useless just becuase you don't have use for them during street driving, then every performance modification would be useless becuase first of all, we are limited to the speed and driving we can do on public roads, and we should be driving safely so we do not endanger the lives of other people. The bigger rotors on the big brake kit, to the best of my knowledge would help braking ability when matched with the multiple piston calipers that are included with the kit. To me, this means greater stopping force, or greater stopping possibilities.

Ofcourse there is no real reason for me to get these big brakes for my Celica as of right now, due to the fact that I don't have any other supporting engine mods that would require me to need more braking power. However, if a group buy were to happen, then i would take full advantage of that GB, as I would probably never see the big brake kit for that price again. I do completely understand your statement on street driving with the big brakes, it's just that some of us use our cars for more than just street driving.

big brakes and their pads work and depend on heat generation to achieve correct performance, it just doesn't happen on the street.
do some research and you'll learn more about bbk vs OEM size on the street there are a lot of resources out there

what a load of crap! of course they work, using normal road use pads they will need less pressure to stop as the loading is less due to the radius being greater.
