Yeah, it is for the parking brake. As long as it holds your car, I don't imagine the drum pads need to be replaced...

they are emergency brake if you lose your hydrolic brake for some reason you can still stop the car with the parking brake instead of crashing.
(I would recommend changing them) This post has been edited by Rayme: Sep 22, 2007 - 6:41 AM -------------------- -Rémy 02 SiR, 08 250R |

so would i buy st brake shoes for the gt internal brake drums? my e-brake didn't work too well after i did the rear disc brake conversion. it hasn't really bothered me yet but it'd be good to have.

I think the inner brakes are different from the ST brakes.
You might want to try e-brakes for the GTS at the auto-store. its gonna be a lot smaller I think. |

QUOTE(LewFX @ Sep 24, 2007 - 10:01 AM) why didnt you just buy new rotors, your old ones seem glazed a tad not until i fix my clutch and leaking problem. this is purely cosmetic. I think the red was too shiney. but with time, dirt and brke dust they will be better... I need opinion on the balloon method of stopping leaks -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... e-brake pads are only available from the dealer @ $140 IIRC (price varies)
DO NOT BUY ST rear brake shoes and attempt to put them on the GT for parking brake. thats not what they are made for. and if you are having issues after a brake swap its more than likely an adjustment problem than an equipment issue. i know it took me a good while to get the rear ebrake pads adjusted correctly |
