I just installed some JDM tails that I purchased on the B/S forum... I went to check my brakes and they wouldn't come on, so I checked the bulbs first... they're fine. I switched whatever harness it came with to my own to see if it was the wiring on the harnesses from the lights... Still no brakes, so I look for a burned fuse with the old harnesses still plugged up. Fuse 15a for "Stop" under the dimmer was burned. So I put in a fresh one and stepped on the brakes with the old harnesses plugged up. No brake lights...
I'm almost starting to think I've been driving without brake lights for a few days and I probably just haven't noticed. What do you guys think? I don't really want to drive around without a brake light... so I want to get this fixed in the morning... ahhh the sweet smell of urgency... can you smell it? maybe the fuse that was in there isnt a high enough amperage fuse. I plugged my JDM harness in and it works perfectly fine. No issues what so ever.

No issues what so ever. Yep, I bought mine off ebay and it came with the JDM harness. I haven't had any problems at all. Maybe check the switch down by the pedal to see if it's not stuck or anything? -------------------- ![]() |

Maybe there was something slowly killing my car because now the battery drains, and the car won't turn on... I think the kill switch on my alarm activated... and I really can't control my alarm, because the remote is, simply put, absolutely retarded; it doesn't really pick up the signal on the alarm for whatever reason. So now I have a car that won't turn on because the kill switch is activated... or maybe it is something else. When I turn the key the car makes absolutely no sound, but the power is fine. everything turns on fine... EXCEPT the car won't crank... or even try to crank.
I disconnected the brain of the alarm to see if it was the alarm... still no help... this really sucks. This post has been edited by Lovo: Oct 5, 2007 - 6:41 PM -------------------- ![]() |

if it clicks a bunch of times it's the battery. if it clicks once then stops, it's the starter.
My alarm did that to me too, what I do is disconnect the battery, put the key in the ignition and turn to the on position then reconnect the battery and it starts fine for me until I disconnect the battery again. -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

how old is your battery?...you probably have some paracidic draw on the top...aka you got excess battery acid *even a tiny bit* going across the top of your battery and causing a connection between the posts.

So I went ahead and tried to see if it was the kill switch on the alarm, and I'm guessing its not, it still did not start with the battery trick.
I tried switching batteries, no luck. I pulled out the starter and got it checked at Autozone... running great. I finally decided to try some things, to see if there is a problem in my wiring... So I took a wire to the positive part on the starter and a wire to the positive part of my battery, went in my car put the key on "on" in the ignition and then I pushed the clutch in and gave the starter some juice... voila!; the car started! I made a little switch and mounted it in my interior through the holes in the firewall for the hvac control. Now I can take it to the dealer to have them find where the faulty wiring is and let them fix it! woooo -------------------- ![]() |

could've been a loose or corroded connection between the starter and the battery, or the starter and ground, or battery and ground.

my ignition switch went on the car, thats what was wrong.
now my alarm brain had an oopsies and something melted inside, so it sent a bad signal to my ignition switch and my brake light somehow. now i need to re-wire another alarm in order to get things functioning good. i'm going to an alarm dealer tomorrow, i used to work there, so it should go pretty smoothly. -------------------- ![]() |
