WOW, you guys on the other side of the world get really good mpg on the celica.
I'm getting around 22mpg on mine and thats the healthiest it has ever been.
Maybe something is wrong with it...... i wish i could get over 30 mpg

I put In $40 got a full tank of regular at chevron, 12.3 gallons, drove 400 miles In the city (90% city, 10% highway) So that's 32.5 miles to the gallon!

Hahaha, replying to myself. I forgot to put on here, that, that mileage, was with my spare tire on. I dont know how much of a difference that make's, I assume It would make some difference.

you know if you get some spinner hub-caps for those spares it would improve air-flow and give you cool points! laugh.gif

i personally do not believe many of you hat say anything over 33-34. that is a crazy amount. I dont see how it is possible. You must be doing calculations wrong. If im wrong im sorry but it seems unlikely

I think mine is approx 27-28MPG

I think part of the reason is people are calculating with 13 gallon tanks. I filled up when my tank was only at it's half way mark and it took rouphly 7.5 gallons to fill, so since the needle was JUST below the the half way point, the tank is at least 14/14.5 gallons (at least with my vert) but I doubt it would be hardly diff at all in other 6th gens. And yes, one gallon can make a significant difference. Do the calculations, you'll see.

i can go to a bone dry tank. and fill up for close to 60L therefore making our tanks 15.5 or like previously said 15.9 gallon.

Well I don't know why you guys are using the total amount of your tank to calculate. All you need is this:

Wait till you need to fill up one time, and once you fill up all the way, restart your odometer.

Then, next time you put gas in, be it 100-200-300-400 miles down the road, divide how many miles you went by how many gallons you just put in.

I just went 195.6 miles and put in like 7.5 gallons or something like that.

Tada!

No, not doing it wrong here.

I fill up, and reset the trip meter. Go until empty again, fill up, divide the trip mileage by the # of gallons it takes to fill up again.

So I average about 33-34 MPG. I averaged 35.5 MPG on my last tank, but I think that's because it's getting colder out.

What is so unbelievable about a 5 speed 4 cylinder making that kind of mileage?

eh, you gotta remember that the ones that state the 30+ mpg are driving the st model with the 7a-fe. This motor definitley gets better gas mileage than the 5s so those #'s don't seem far off.

Yep, dead serious.

I don't see how you guys are getting such horrible gas mileage. I guess I just have a very light foot?

my celica got right around 30mpg

my subaru on the other hand gets an avr of 27.24mpg (high =30.09, and low =24.77) additionaly my avr price per gallon is $3.01 (high =$3.55, and low = $2.48) my trip calc shows just about 11 cents a mile. (all math calculated from in car trip meter and every gas recept since 11/25/2006, I've kept track of exactly 21,824.52 miles. I have charts and pie graphs too. also kept track of oil and maintinace since then too with notes as to the miles on the car when it was done. total cost in maitinance $517.92 (including oil and filters but I get most of that free from my g/f shop.)

putting all this together over the last year gave me something to do at work.
