Then it's up to personal preference. They are both going to sound roughly the same. If you use the accord intake, the sound appears to come from your front left tire rather than the engine. The SRI filter is easier to access to clean/replace. The CAI has more pipe which can look hot! tongue.gif

ehh if you like a lot of pipe wink.gif

I don't feel a difference, and there are many opposing views on what gives you more benefit.

I truly believe the heat difference between the SRI and CAI isn't that much so it doesn't matter.

You could do what I did and buy the accord CAI and just make it an SRI.

Oh, I went and bought a new filter too because the one that comes with it is only steel mesh.

x2.

before i changed to a short ram (more for aesthetics for me, but cold piping coming soon) i took out that bottom reservoir in front of the driver wheel. it's alot less restricting that having it on n it lets some cool air in.

CAI is generally a few. more hp but a short ram gives you more throttle response.. i'd rather have the throttle reponse over 2-3 hp.

i have the injen sri on my st and the carb sticker throws cops off lol so i woudl sujest that if u dont want trouble they see a carb sticker and dont bother to check if its for the st or gt hehehe i love the sound it makes esp at a stop makes it sound like u have more then u have hahaha but i was thinking about making a quick release for the drivers side high beam so u can disconect it and remove it easly and put the cone right in the hole to make a forced induction for "raceing" purposes lol if u can even race a st hehe but i wanted to see if ne one else had done it and see if its even worth doing. that woudl the the most cold air for your buck and wouldnt look to bad if u had a nice looking filter instead of a highbeam lol

I agree w/ Lew about his method. I tried it at first, and it is better...but you don't really get a sound difference ,so then I did what chinaman did and modded the 93 CAI to make a custom SRI. I love the sound and it does have good throttle resopnse as well. (but I took the stock reservoir out) I didn't want to mess with CAI and worry about possible hydrolock...and its more expensive buying a bypass valve to prevent that.

hey man i have had 3 diffrent types of intakes on my 95 st...1st i did a short ram, cold air, and ive also used just a filter on the throttle boddy..from my experiance the short ram sounds the best its a deep growl power gains wore resonable...the cold air seemd to give more hp at higher rmps than the short ram but the short ram seemded to get up off the line faster than the cold air..more tourqe than hp. last having the filter right on the end of the throttle body seemded to be were u would get the best response were ever the rpms were n had its own sounds.....just depends if ur looking for higher rpm gains to pull harder or more tourqe for getting off the line and up to speed faster...

Go for Short Ram. Despite what people say, there is very little performance difference between any of them, might as well get the one that sounds coolest tongue.gif

Here is a pic of mine. It is the longest part of the 1997 - 2001 Hyundai Tiburon 2.0 CAI. I have attached a K&N Filter. This roars. also, I have a pipe feeding from bumper vent.

the only thing i heard bad about cold air is that water could stuck up into your motor, so it depends how long your piping is. that why i prefer short ram less to worry about.

definately agree you jc. even if cai gives you 2-3 ponys maybe, id rather have a sri that i know is doing something because i can tell when i drive with it. besides throttle response and torque seems little more practical to me. (and sri is so much cheaper!)

1. I know what your talking about with the engine sounding like its meaner than it is, because the sound is coming from the engine bay and not the muffler. i've had people intimidated by it, and even reluctant to run because they thought I was lying about it being 1.8L. haha.

2. I think if you run your filter through the driver side high beam you will have to relocate the coolant overflow bottle for sure(just drop it down 6 inches and mount with zip ties)and cut off some of the metal brace that holds the high beam in place. so if you were going to be constantly switching it back and forth you might have to custom fabricate and alternative mount.. but i'm not 100% sure. thats from looking at my car, but not test fitting.

btw i'm currently using a SRI consisting of a (1) 60 degree bend off the throttle body and filter. it's simple, looks good, and sounds nice.

i mean the 7afe's strength (if any) is its torque so why not exploit it a little, with better throttle response.
