hey whats up everyone. right now im riding with open headers that i just installed and i need advice on what i should do for my exhaust. im wondering what would be best, like if i should leave my regular diameter of my piping or get 2.5? and if i should keep my old cat or get a high flow cat(would it make a diff?). really need some opinions on what would be best to gain some horse power. thanks

2.25 and a High flow cat would work out great if your in a state that requires emission laws. If your not you can go without a cat, but that would make you a polluter. JDM motors don't require cats I think?
As far as exhaust goes, you can have a fart canon or a regular silent muffler. I think the fart canon gets annoying after a while and it makes your car ricey. It does however make your car stand out tho..... |

my state doesn't require to have a cat but the reason why i wanted a high flow cat was because i hear around that 4 cylinders need back pressure or else i'll lose some horse power.. and for the next thing and last thing i'll do is a performance chip to the engine

u can buy a SRI (Short Ram Intake)
there are some that are made for our car on eBay for about $15.99 plus shipping, total comes out to about $35-$40. some sell for less, some for more, just depends. but the filters that ususally come with it are pretty cheap, so upgrade it to a K&N filter. its possible to get a CAI (Cold Air Intake) but they aren't that easy to come by for our cars. some just use pipings from other makes n models n fabricate them so that they fit into our engine bay. but the difference in HP for us isn't significant, as the 7afe was built as an economy engine. or, u can buy a drop in air filter that simply replaces the factory filter with a more free flowing filter. those are availible by K&N as well and work to help out, but i believe that with a SRI you can have a lil more throttle reponse than with the factory setup. -------------------- Pandelica 2.0 in progress. |
