1:30am: Taking a left turn onto a major road with a green arrow. red pickup coming from my left running a red-light doing 40 or so. i hit the brakes and ended up lightly t-boning him. no injuries on either side. guy was at fault, but cool about it. and cop was cool too, no attitudes with either of them.
only one really hurt is my baby, her front bumper got compressed and then ripped off sideways. i want to cry. |

Wow, that cop would've had to haul me off in the back of his cop car. I would've beat the hell out of the guy that ran that red light! Hope his or your insurance covers your car so you can get that bumper fixed.
You should've also had a slight complaint when you t-boned him, you should've mentioned your back hurts a little bit, you could've got a crap load of money. -------------------- |

For one thing why go to jail for assault when the truck driver is at fault, hes chill and your going to get everything replaced for free? Secondly, Zim, thats the least amount of damage I've seen come from an accident in a long time. the celi and you are lucky compared to what it could have been if you didn't see him in time. I've never complained about my back hurting in any accident i've been in. I've just had friends do it - but I don't know if they got any cash or anything for it. Maybe just some free physical therapy. don't know
One accident I was in a few years ago, I had a similar situation , only thing wrong with my car at the time was a chunk of the front bumper missing. Dude turned left at an intersection where it distinctly shows NO LEFT TURN. lol I was pissed as crap. I can get a little hot headed a lot of the time - but i'm working on it. lol -------------------- |

A little honestly never hurts once in a while. As 6gcSTVT said: abusing the system just hurts everyone.

It's all about karma too, when you abuse the system like that it's just going to come back to you twice as bad anyway, next time it'll be an uninsured motorist only to find out your own insurance has lapsed... that kinda stuff. It ruins it for yourself as well as everyone else around! I'd rather hold my head up knowing I did the right thing than have a bunch of dirty money. It's just not worth it.

thanks for all the kind words guys.
i just got back from dropping her off at the body shop with a rental pontiac grand-prix which seems pretty powerful, but handles like a boat. like all the chevy trucks i've driven it feels very touchy in the first bit of accel/brake travel. i was thinking about karma last night as i was trying to sleep, and i'm not soo sure i believe in it anymore, not that this accident has had that sweeping an effect, but i was thinking that it might boil down to which proverb you believe in more: "what goes around comes around" or "no good deed goes unpunished" now is a waiting phase, worried that with the low retail value of the car that they'll just total her and i'll have to figure out quickly what to do (buy her back salvage, find another celica). just this summer i put like 1700 into reapirs for her. thanks again |

Glad that's the only damage and you're alright.
It's always sad to see a damaged celic but at least it's an easy fix. -------------------- CLOSED on 25 acres! -shop coming soon.... |

[/quote] Even if you don't complain someone else will and jack up the insurance prices. Any way a little compensation for damages such as in the form of Punitive damages will at least ease your pain since your car was hit, the mental damages caused to you and your baby, and so forth. Heck I rather have my car stay original then get hit and be Bondo. Being in a wreck just lowers the value of your car. You might as well reap the benefits while your at it and claim as much as you can for it. There is no sense in just having it repaired while it was clearly the other guys fault. Stake your claim and milk the other guys insurance money for as much as you can. They deserved it for being careless and they should pay the price for higher insurance. |
