Hi,

just a couple of minutes ago, I was on my way to wash my celica, right.

Rolling on the highway, down to a garage where I usually wash my car, I hear this "boom" sound, pretty much like a rocket on new years-eve or something, anyway... it was LOUD. I don't understand sh*t, and when I look in my rear-mirror, my rear-window is completely in 1000 pieces. And it is now over my whole rear-seats, my stereo and everywhere....

I checked around where it happened, and it is only companies with high walls around, so it is impossible that it is some small ****kids that threw somethings, it was not any holes in the window, it looks more like it has been under pressure of any kind, and just popped at some moment... Anyone been into anything like this before? I don't understand ****

Ive never heard of any cases like that, my Uncle works at an AutoGlass place he has some good stories nothing like this though. I think you might have been hit with something.. or possibly climate change, like really cold to really warm? Unlikely

The only thing i have heard is, if it snows and your windows froze you should never wash it with water because the window will brake in thousands of pieces like you said, but i have never heard something like that!

Ofcourse now you should be very carefull and clean the seats and everything in your car very good because it is very dangerous and you will find small pieces everywhere (I know it from personal experience)! Good luck with the cleaning!

but it was the rear window? that is way crazy!!!
i can't see anything hitting it since when it rains and i am on the freeway i hardly even get a raindrop on the rear window. that is way effed up. you don't live near any military bases or anything? maybe a jet broke the sound barrier close by and caused it
(not likely but still)
i just can't believe it.

No, I can't believe it either. It is SO impossible that anything could have hitted it, but my father thinks it is my own fault, because I've a large stereo in my car, but the funny thing is that I was in the phone when it happened, so I didn't listen to anything at ALL. I'll take some pics tomorrow morning, and you'll see that this thing is f'd up for me. So much vacuming for me.....

No, not anything. It was in perfect shape, the only thing I've done to it, was that I changed the wipers yesterday laugh.gif But whatever, a new window is ordered, and being replaced tomorrow!

Man, that's ridiculous! Never heard of a window just breaking like that. At least it wasn't your front windshield while you were driving.

i know, it's that same kinda cell phone crap that starts fires when your using it by the gas pump... silly cell phone companies... now they make phones that break windows when you're using them whilst driving! laugh.gif

sorry to hear about that man, that's real strange, had a buddy who's skyline passengerside window popped outta nowhere, sitting in a parking lot, but that was heat...

Most likely a bullet landed onto your rear window? Look for a bullet hole of any sort. Its illegal to shoot in the air but people do it anyway. My guess.

Myth BUSTED. No way, I think it was because of a minor damage in the glass, or that it is temperature difference from inside the cupe, and outside. Whatever, have got a new window a week ago, got it tinted at the same time, so everything sorts out. The only thing that irritates me so much, is that I have a rather large stereo, and the 6*9 I had in the rack, were full of glass. Took out most of it, but there is still microscopic bits that scratches in the membrane on high tones, so I'll get new ones as soon as my contact in audioshop comes back from a little vacation! perfect.....
