The blacktop is going to give you the most power, but no where near what you are looking for.
Read the stickys and look at all the options, the 3sgte swap has been done in an st as well imo that is the most reliable method to get the power you are looking for. I am not saying you can't squeeze that out of a blacktop you are just looking at more time money and effort than a 3s swap to accomplish it. Edit:btw welcome This post has been edited by 97lestyousay: Oct 13, 2007 - 2:46 PM -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.

Edit:btw welcome what functions of the car will i need to lose for the 3s swap though? that swap is like 100% go fast no power steering no a/c correct? i want to keep this car drivable and still have fun with and keep up with all the nasty ass civics running around the city.. maybe 250 was a little high lol the car is making about 110 hp now and i thing 200 would be enough to do what i would like to do. if i dont got with being N/a would this goal be reach able with the black top swap? -------------------- -Boss III

Two posts in the same forum 9 minutes apart....
You wouldn't be able to reach 250HP from a blacktop 4AGE without spending a lot of money. More money than it would be to swap a 3S. If you want N/A power go for a Beams 3S-GE. It is rated at right around 190hp. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but I had a quick question. What is easier to swap into an ST a BEAMS or 3SGTE? All I'm looking for is about 200hp and the beams would be nice for my plans on a SS3 conversion.

QUOTE(addictions @ Oct 13, 2007 - 3:00 PM) Hello! first time posting on this site i have been a member for about a month just reading and from what i can gather the 7a-fe to 4age swap in not to hard.. i love this car and drive it like its fast but we all know its not.. i was wondering what i would need to do and a guess on how much it would cost to push about 250 hp N/A out of a 4age? and witch motor to use silver or black? most of the work would be done be me so just parts and were to get them would be great! thanks for your help Check out Club4ag they will be able to answer your power goal question better. However, last time I checked 250hp NA was a hefty goal for anyone to try and meet. But if you want the swap, the 3sgte would be easier, as there is alot more help on this forum with wiring and basic swap information. Dr. Tweak can also do your ST- 3sgte wiring harness for you. -------------------- |

You won't be able to make 250hp out of a 4AGE without spending thousands upon thousands, and it will be race-only. Your best bet is the 3SGTE, which will easily make that power in near-stock form.
If you really wanted to stay n/a, the BEAMS is a great option, but by the time you swap it in you probably could have had a 3SGTE which is far more powerful and upgradable. To answer the other question in this thread, technically the BEAMS is an easier swap, mostly because there is no intercooler or turbo system involved. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

Uh, the second gen silvertop is the best engine to get if you are going to upgrade down the road. It has the best combustion chambers and the pistons/rods will stand up to small amounts of boost. The kicker is you need to go stand alone or get blacktop electronics to run itbs and to get a boost in hp.
