 Symptoms of a bad timing belt |

What are the usual signs of a bad timing belt? My car is making loud squeals and other weird noises, I've looked at all my belts, and none are cracked or broken, I tried tightening the tensioner and still nothing, so I've come to the conclusion that my timing belt is going out. It's been doing this for a few days, and I'm worried that it might go on me before I get the money to replace it.

I know for my celica its about 120-150 quid in the UK ..thats the highest that can be charged so my guess is for the US ur looking at smething like 300 dollars..

Also, it only makes the noise when warm. Never during the first start of the day or if it's been sitting for a few hours.
