Well guys, just dropped off my 89 celica GT-S with one of my friends dad who specializes in Toyotas, cars and trucks. He's going to be doing this engine swap for me. So tomorrow i'm going to see him and he's going to tell me what we need to get out of my 89 celica to put the 3SGTE engine out of it, and put it in my 95 celica. I know I already need the wiring harness, engine (of course), and the GT brackets...
I'm really excited, i'm going to drop my 95 celica off with him tomorrow and he told me he should have the swap complete by Monday, so i'm wicked excited about it. I'm going to go help him sometime this weekend when i'm not hanging out with my gf. I'll post some pictures sometime this weekend and keep ya'll updated.. Were all of you guys this excited when you knew your plan was finally becoming reality..I'm really excited about it.. -------------------- |

yeah, wasn't to sure where to post it...
I checked the sticky about doing this swap, and it was listing a bunch of crap i'd need to change..but if I have the whole car, I really won't need to change anything eh? Also, I have an ST tranny in my 95..will this screw my car up if I don't change it? Because I have the GT-S tranny that came on the car, but I don't want to put it on if I don't have too.. -------------------- |

Well guys ,going today to my buddies dads shop to see if he can get it done this weekend, then we'll hopefully start it today..
If we start it today I'll get some pics.. Also quick question, if I just keep my stocked clutch and flywheel, will that be a problem..or will it run fine for a while until I can save up some cash to get a new clutch... -------------------- |

I have the GT-S tranny that came with the GT-S when I bought it , and I was planning on using that...I know the ST won't work, thats why the 89 kept breaking axles because it had a ST tranny..
But what about a GT-S trany? I got some pics of us beginning to take apart the 3SGTE, but i'll post them later. -------------------- |

Yeah, thats what I was thinking as well....And i found out what was wrong with my GT-S tranny, its not synchronizing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd..so i'm going to try and use my ST tranny, just not race it, until I can find some place where I can buy a synchronizer.
Anyways, here are the pics from Friday night, and Today...Hopefully the car should be complete by Wednesday at the latest. That rust thats leading from the left side of the turbo is going to be sand blasted, along with a lot of the engine components and get the engine polished and looking pretty good. -------------------- |

ST (7AFE) tranny won't bolt up sorry to burst the bubble. you need a s-series tranny example:GT tranny (5SFE). who's doing your wireing when you get the harness? what made you decide on a 1st gen 3sgte? have you done research because there is plenty of information covering this? sadly i agree with lagos but i wouldn't mind to be proven wrong. good luck.

how much money are you losing .. I mean putting into this ?
the first gen 3sgte barely has 200 hp at crank, and that's on a healthy engine, so after you're done ( if they can get it to work properly for you ) you'll have ~ 170 hp at the wheels ( assuming the engine is healthy ) the 3sgte will not work with a ST tranny ( I said it again, I know ) you're dropping an almost 20 years old motor in your car, which is not being rebuilt before swap. I don't know much about swaps and even I know that set-up will get you nowhere. don't take our comments as hating, is just that we know is not gonna work like that, and to make it work you'll spend money that you haven't planned to spend and then you won't be happy with the results ( power / cost ratio ) . Some members have made the same mistake you're about to make, just do a search and read on some swaps and see what kind of problems people have. organize your ideas do the job the proper way. Everyone here loves a 3SGTE powered celi, but we wanna see a happy owner with a properly working car, not a big headache that will disappoint you and make you hate your car. -------------------- |

I appreciate the feedback guys - really do. Helped me a lot today. And I decided just to upgrade my 7A-FE engine into a 7A-FTE engine , I have all the parts I need to upgrade it to a Turbo engine...so...I'm going to do that instead, and make it a good show car / race car..
Pretty excited...And today, got the engine out of the 89 celica , and took the turbo out and began to sand blast away. Looks a lot better, i'll take some pics tomorrow of the after effect of the sand blasting. Thanks again guys - I really appreciate the "hate" haha just playin. Really helped! -------------------- |

Pretty much the turbo, intercooler, and I have a friend who can bend piping and all that crap. He also said we might need the pistons too, but I was reading the "Turbo your 7A-FE" sticky and I pretty much have everything I need to turbo charge my 7a-fe
