Well,...I sold my 1992 Celica GT 5-Speed to my cousin,My 1994 Celica ST 5-speed to my 14 year old brother and now I just sold my 1997 Celica ST 5-speed to my 20 year old brother...I just got my 2000 Celica GT-S 6-Speed but what is awesome is that now all my cars are still in the family and we can do some awesome line ups and goto shows together...Now all I gotta do is find a white Celica GT auto for my GF when she wants to get rid of her Jetta...lol.... I'll post some pics soon!

How do you like the gts? Did you change your lift bolts yet? I own a 2000 gts too and its such an awesome ride. But be careful with the tranny.

I don't seem to have any problem with lifting. I got it off someone who never raced it and basically had it sitting for 2 years. I let the engine warm up before I do any revs over 3k

Yeah, thats good. I still think you should change your lift bolts to the newest style, so when they brake they won't get stuck. But I do love the fact that the rev limiter is at 8400 oppose to the later years.

Is it something easy to do? And how much did it cost you?

Yeah, my wife has a 01 celica gt (1zz-fe motor) We both kinda wish she had the gt-s but she wants a 5-speed more now. I haven't looked too deep into it but I thought mabey if I could find a wrecked gt-s, a full motor/tranny swap with a turbo added would be nice.

A turbo on the 1zz wouldn't be so bad either since it has what, a 10.0:1 cr. I've seen some good whp come off some 1zz's.

Glad to see you're still in the celica family though! Enjoy the crap out of it!

Changeing lift bolts are easy. They cost like 2 bucks for both the bolts. When you go to the dealer you have to ask for the flanges. Just explain to them about the two bolts one on the intake side and one on the exhaust side. Just take the valve cover off and your good to go. Since your lift bolts arent broken you'll have an easy change. I love the 2zz motor.

Dude drop your car on some trd springs and upgraded struts and you're good to go. O yeah boost the crap out of it, lol. I can't do it so all i did was aem cai and ported headers. sounds meaner than hell.

Now remember the 1zz rods are super tiny compared to the 2zz motor. With the 1zz boosted they struggle to make the kind of power the 2zz makes with like 8psi.

Last night we ripped apart the valve cover and seal, degreased it,sanded it down, sprayed it blue and then made a silicon sealer and popped everything back together. There is a weird chiming time sound coming out of the motor so I am hoping a bottle of 4 cylinder engine restore lubes it up and takes that sound away. The car is not really losing any oil but it is smoking since it has sat for a year. The exhaust definitely has a leak now that we got the car up and running. This is going to be a wicked fun project to work on my brother with. My father before he passed away taught me a lot about cars but it just mostly general stuff...I taught myself the fun stuff...like how to make them faster and louder...lol

More annoying, good for you though... I'm learning everything myself... I don't speak to my "Father" all he is, is a sperm donor... *bah* anyways, hope you have fun and your little bro is starting young so he might get into it... if you mold him into a JDM lover, and not a Muscle Lover (lol)

I'm sure they were the 3rd generation bolts. Just ask for the flanges. I think the 3rd gen were gold color. second gen is good too, they were silver.
