I'm glad you're going to 7AFTE route. I personally thought you jumped into the whole 3s swap thing pretty fast. I mean doing the swap in a weekend plus a couple of days for your first time is pretty damn insane. Oh yeah don't forget pics of the turbo build.

In need of a rust free chassis!!!!

yeah, i'm overall pretty happy with my decision to just go the 7afte route as well. I'm just going to make it a good show car, but can also race if need be.

yeah i'm going back to my buddies house tomorrow to finish sand blasting the rest of it, and hoping to get the turbo added by this weekend. Can't wait to get it running!

I'm diong little by little to my car. Took all the inserts on the dash out, and painted those blue, and they look pretty sick. Match my blue reverse gages, and my blue cd player. So i'm really excited about this.

i almost pissed myself with arts post. good luck with the swap and i think you should sloooooooow down n read up on in detail on turbo engines to the point where your a nerd so you arent som loser whos always spinnin bearings or poppin head gaskets & tourchin pistons n all that fun stuff

on a lighter note, i hope everything goes well and i hope you post alot on here with your progress and the different routes you choose to take with whatever setup you plan to go ahead on, most people will be dicks when correcting you, but take it and learn and im sure you will have a sweet ride when your all done!!! just dont get caught throwing alot of money into something that could be better

I really appreciate the support. I'm going out to my buddies shop today to get everything I need to upgrade my engine to a turbo - and throwin it in my trunk...lol Why you ask?

I got a letter from my insurance company, and turns out I owe them $560 for 3 months of insurance (but I already paid two months of it)...how do I owe 3 months? My question exactly. lol So now i got to come up with a lot of money in like, a week...WHY ME!? lol

So I'm going to scrap everything on the 89 celica that i'm not going to use, including the car, its the quickest way to get cash. lol Then I can hope my buddy will lend me the rest , which I think he should.

So..the turbo is going to be put on hold for a while, but it will be done eventually..lol

the CT26, the turbo that came off the 3sgte engine, i'm hoping that works. I've searched the forums and found nothing on it..so...does anyone know if it'll work?

you just confirmed what a lot of members were afriad you were doing; yes it can work, almost any turbo can work with any engine, the thing is how efficient. It'll take forever to get the turbo spooling on a 7AFE

Once you get a custom exhaust manifold to fit the turbo, you'll found yourself in a laggy world, where your full boost point will be close to your red line.

you said the car had an axel problem, why not just fix the axel and have fun with it. it should be a good beater.

I would, but we completely gutted out the 89 celica just about, and the engine is an ST tranny, thats what keeps breaking the axel..so it would just keep breaking axle after axle, after axle. So i'm not going to screw with it...any ideas would be great, if I don't get any good ideas today or tomorrow, i'm going to have to scrap the car..which would really suck...But money is tight right now, so I need to do something..lol

So your saying you have a 4th gen, with a 3sgte and an st tranny, and thats why the axles keep breaking? Dood, at least take the time to learn the basics about these cars before you start your projects.

you also seem to think that you can take the parts off the 3sgte, throw them in your truck and slap them on your ST. hate to brake it to you, but you cant do that.

Yeah, i'm aware of that. So i've just decided to scrap the car. I'll lose a lot of money by doing that - but oh well, I have no need for it. Sorry to waste all the time.

Appreciate all the feedback too guys, even though it cut deep =P lol I've been around Drill Sergeants from nov. of 2006, until July of 2007..so...i'm used to it. lol!

Live n' Learn. Now you know to do a lot more research before a big project like this. why not part it out on craigslist or something?
