If you had a choice between any subwoofer kicker, mtx, or eclipse makes, which sub, and manufacturer would you pick. Money isnt a large problem. Also on amps I hear the new mtx series sucks
Im upgrading from my crappy walmart pioneer and i get a good discount in those brands XP -dave -------------------- 0111011001101001011100110111001101101001

i wouldnt choose any of those brands in my opinion.even if i cant afford it i would still go with this set up.haha.yeah either JL audio or alpine if i had to choose a sub
i would go with a 1 JL Audio 12" w6v2 with a JL 500/1 amp or 1 JL 12" W7 with a JL 1000/1 amp both hit hard just a w6v2 will blow your mind sounds so nice. imagine if u have 1 w7 Head unit i would choose Alpine they look the best in my opinion internals i would go with alpine, JBL, infinity |

im with the jl/alpine crowd, thats what i got and i think it sounds great, i really dont know the sound market anymore as im very happy with what i have so theres no need to shop around =) i think you should spend the money if you are concerned with what sounds the "best" otherwise go with what looks nice and is cheap if you dont notice quality differences

I have used MTX subs in the past. They can make noise, but the sound quality isn't great. I wouldn't recommend them.
I am currently using a Kicker comp CVT (the shallow mount one) because of the size mostly. It sounds good, hits low, but I've had better. This is a great sub for the price and the fact that it doesn't hog your trunk is great (only a 4 5/16" mount depth. my old sub had a 5.2" depth but you had to leave an extra 2" at the back for pole venting. This kicker sub can be flush mounted against the back of your box). I have a friend that uses Eclipse subs and they sound great as well, but his are also probably 6 years old. I have an eclipse headunit from when they were actually good My personal preference is AVI, but good luck finding some. They are hand made in Richmond, BC. My old sub AVI-SLS-300 12": My current sub Kicker Comp CVT 12": What is your goal with your system? Do you want to have loud, pounding bass or just something to round out the system and not piss off your neighbours? I care more about sound quality than just bass. My comp days are over. In your situation, I'd probably go for Kicker if anything. And though you didn't specify, I'd get a 12 instead of a 10. I've found over the years that they sound better and hit lower. -------------------- |

Well i want something that can hit , but dosent lose all sound quality. I listen to mostly rock and some techno. And depending on whos in my car i listen to a bit of rap. I dont hate my current pioneer 10" but it dosent hit as hard as i want, and sounds kinda bad. My neighbors dont care to much, they have a nice systems in there cars to
At first i was looking at a l7, but my friend told me to get some mtx 5500's.(he has two 8500 12s in his accord and it literally opens his sun roof. Iv never actually herd any eclipse. Do either of these companies made good amps? -------------------- 0111011001101001011100110111001101101001

I was running mtx amps as well and I found they got really hot. I ran them in a competition and was so disappointed with the result I sold all my MTX parts the next day. Eclipse makes decent amps (or did. My friend with the subs had eclipse amps and they were great, but also older) and I believe so does kicker, but I recall someone telling me that Kicker amps were overpriced, much like Alpine amps are. My kicker sub hits hard. I also know other people using a range of kicker subs from L7's to solo baric's, Comp VR's, etc and they all sound good. I'd get Kicker or Eclipse first. "If you had a choice between any subwoofer kicker, mtx, or eclipse makes, which sub, and manufacturer would you pick. " Don't recall Orion being a choice and since when does best = something that can make me deaf? -------------------- |

hmm i think ima go with an l7 12" oh yea on the subject of wire, At school my weight training coach has been using split open extension cord for speaker wire, he said some "expert" told him it works well. I was wondering if its true.
