Right now I have a Honda S2000 that I will be selling and picking up a gen6.
Chances are I will be doing some improvements to the Celica to increase performance. Selling the S2000 is not exactly my choice and I still want something I can throw around some twisty roads. ![]() I have driven them before and know I will be doing some suspension work and want some good tires for them but I'm not sure if I should get a really good set of all season tires or get a set of summer only performance tires for the 17s I'm going to get and then put a cheaper set of all seasons that get decent snow traction on the stock rims for the winter? I know with the S2000 if I hadn't had a winter beater car (which is very close to death) I know I would have needed a set of heavy snow tires and a larger life insurance policy if I even thought about driving in the snow. I would assume that the Celica being FWD is better. Any imput would surely be helpfull. Thanks in advance. -Fr3AkAzOiD |

Thats what I was figuring but it's convincing the wife on spending an extra $1000 on rims and tires "when the car already has perfectly good tires on it".
I told her if I have to get rid of the S2000 I would be getting a 4 seater but it would be a project car. If she had her way I would be driving a mini van (we have no kids yet) and buying a pop-up camper for it to tow. ;( |

When I bought another Celica the Mrs. was like "Why do you need another one? You already have one!" My answer was, Because I can. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

Heheh when I bought my ST205, I told my wife I wouldnt spend any money on it because it was perfect, $30,000 later Im still spending on it
![]() I wouldnt bother with winter tyres unless your going to have 12" of snow, modern all season tyres should cope just fine. -------------------- 1994 JDM GT4 WRC

I have all seasons on my celica and it runs like crap in the minnesota winters. The treads were just fine too. Thus making my decision for this winter a lot easier. Blizzaks FTW.

The two reasons why you want to buy winter tires:
1. No all season tires can outperform real winter tires. 2. You can have a set of real summer tires to enjoy in summer. You don't have having to stick with all season tires all year long. This post has been edited by Gary: Oct 31, 2007 - 1:55 PM -------------------- _Gary

Yeah, since you're getting 17's slap summer tires on there for your performance preferance. And for the stockies slap on some nice winter tires. You'll be set. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

definatly get winters and a seperate set of summers. I a set of stickey Toyo's on my 16"s for the summer and perelli winters n my stock rims for the winter. I would definatly go with a set of winters. In the spring i put my summer tires back on my car a bit prematurely. I was driving from my house to my parents houe about 3.5hours and got caught in a freak snow storm. i went from doing 100km/h to about 60 km/h trying to keep the car straight. And that was on a set of "all season" falken tires. Definatly go with some winter tires. Especialy if you get a GT, your gonna spin the tires pretty easily.
