I was thinking about this. The idea of the intercooler is to cool down the air that is going back into the engine. Right?
Well the faster the air gets into the intercooler and back to the engine the better. umnn so does it make sence to just make the piping 2 inch so that it travels faster to the intercooler and back to the engine? I would also assume the shorter the piping the better. -------------------- |

pipe size has more to do with how many cubic feet per min you engine flows. (CFM)
also the faster you move something the more frictional heat it generates. there is a balance point between pipe size and speed and volume...its lots of math |

Ive been told on a few occasions (doesnt mean its true) to keep the piping going from the turbo to the intercooler the same size as the turbo outlet. and the piping going from the intercooler to the throttle body the same size as the throttle body inlet.
that way the hot turbo air doesn't expand in the pipe it expands upon entering the intercooler and actually cools it more because theres more space for it to expand into, thats just how thermo crap works. it expenses more energy expanding so it cools quicker. Keeping the piping the same size post intercooler as the TB inlet means no restrictions or weird turbulence cause by reducing or enlarging couplers at the manifold. That is a good way to put it itchy. I was always wondering why some civics had different ID for their charge piping. I always thought having the same ID all the way through would be best, but maybe its just more cost effective that way.
