-- pic snipped --

short of a sandblaster the only thing that might work with lots of time and patience is a 3M stripping wheel. i tried every product know to the guys at my local UAP with little or no results. it is a mixture of road grime, oxidization and neglect. i used 3M Scotch-Brite discs and pads to get about 75% of the grim off the inside of the wheel. there is a new line of ROLOC products you may also want to try.

hope it helps

usually whatever this crap is i get and put into an old spray 9 bottle works for that stuff... ill have to ask about it, but try getting some type of degreaser and spraying it then letting it soak, will also work well if you heat an area of the wheel you wanna clean before you spray n soak, then use a brush, a hard one, but not wire to avoid scratching, and it should loosen it up. put heat on it till its noticably warm-hot to the touch then spray it, let it soak for a minute, then spray some more, let that soak then scrub away, its a big pita
