From The Hollywood Extra
QUOTE(Vince Burlapp @ Oct 28, 2007 - 10:32 PM) ![]() Why not. And make the interior retro too. This would be great. Start over from the begining. That's what the Celica needs. Leave the Scion Tc for the 20 something crowd, and make the new Celica a more mature coupe. The early ones always tried to add a little luxury feel to the sporty look. This would really be fun. A $20 000 RWD Toyota coupe. QUOTE(Vince Burlapp @ Oct 29, 2007 - 8:05 PM) ![]() The early RWD Celicas were never offered as a convertible. This would go nicely against the Mustang and Camaro. tc=Touring Coupe...
I think that if Toyota brought back a RWD Celica, i would soooooo buy one. The convert looks way to much like a stang though. I doubt that toyota will be making this though. |

love the concept. but it looks like thier trying to domesticate it with the front looking Camero(ish) and back like a new Mustang..they need to bring back the old lightweight, small body designs

The only reason why everyone says it looks like a camarro is because the hood is overhanging the headlights and the grill.
But look at the 1st gen celica... notice the over hang also? ![]() |

Personally, I'd prefer a NEW and Original rwd Celica, possibly inspired by the old 1st gen classic... but NOT a straight retro re-design like the American cars. Just too bulky looking IMO. The Celica was never meant to be a muscle car of any type. The old chassis was basically a longer Corolla chassis, and it was marketed as a sport compact. It'll NEVER be considered Mustang/Camaro competition.
