Has anyone here done a turbo kit with a 5th injector instead of changing out the stock injectors and fuel pump like kits for Hondas and Hyundais use? For someone looking for a modest increase in power that wouldn't require changing axles/clutch this seems like a cheaper and easier way to go, if there's a way to splice into the fuel rail that is.

you can use a sub injector controller like a Greddy Rebic, but its like $550 plus dollars, and probably not as simple as it sounds. I dont think there is really a "simple" way to turbo an NA car.

check out turbo specialties. They have something like that. Its an easy quick button you use to add and take away fuel.

So I keep hearing but I'm getting a little tired of seeing other people boost civics for less than $1000 in parts, slaping it togethr in one weekend and tuning it with Turbo Edit, then kicking my ass lol.

You want cheap get everything used. Although I do not recommend this, because half the used suff will crap out on you.

I wasn't suggesting that I wanted to buy this kit, just that I've seen Civic owners take a used turbo, some misc piping and without so much as poping the valve cover on their motor, put down an extra 60 hp. where it seems for Celicas you have to spend a minimum for $2000 to do that even with used parts.

You just did what I do on a napkin every month or so. I get to 2 grand then I think screw it I might as well get a 3SGTE, then I think screw it I might as well sell the car and get something else. Then I do nothing and wait for that $6000 all-trac to magically appear for sale in my local paper. lol.

Both units also offer sub-injector controller which is RPM and MAP-load based for much better tuning. Most civics will already beat our cars both in stock form due to they are lighter. Parts are cheap for civics because they are so freakin common. Open any magazine and there you go, cheap parts available. Our parts are cheap as well, just not as readily availabe. There has to be some "leg-work" to get them. You could get the parts listed by 6strngs for $500, run it at low boost (5-7psi) and gain about as much as you say civics do. But even hondas have to shell out big bucks for reliability. What is it, CHEAP / FAST / RELIABLE pick two. Everyone, hondas/toyotas/nissans etc. have to play by this rule. -------------------- CLOSED on 25 acres! -shop coming soon.... |

Just because you see people do dumb stuff, doesn't mean you should too. Do it right or don't do it at all. If you try to cheap out, it will only cost you more down the road when you blow your motor.

well civics are SOHC. celicas are DOHC. yeah my friend wants me to help him put together his turbo and stuff. his cousin said its easier to turbo a sohc. i'll just watch and supervise.

Why does it matter if its single or dual overhead? it doesnt really matter. Unless you're talking about the civics, where once ac is removed you have all the room in the world to boost it.

They run on a slave cam, theres only 1 cam gear driven by the timing belt, the other is driven from a gear under the valve cover.
