Hello folks I know I got a little carried away in writing but... try to bare with me as it may be helpful. I've appared to lost my account, but none of you would really know of me anyways.
First let me properly introduce myself, though this may not be the right thread.. but I will go back on topic.
The name is Danny/Viet. Either or Komodo is fine. I was once a member here about a year ago, contemplating to buy a 6gc as well. Now I'm planning on getting an 8G Galant. As you see, I'm a member of TGC. My car? Well it will come soon. And yes. I'm Canadian, living in Montreal. Oh. And Mike (_mikeE) knows me personally.
With that being said...
I like the idea of a Canadian 6G meet. Although I personally do not own a 6g... I can provide information that could be needed for a meet IF there will be one in Montreal. But at the moment... it looks like I'm a little late seeing as how Valo666 has casted a voting.
But I will tell you this:
Montreal is quite a fair bilingual city. We have city-extensions, as I call them. There are Laval, St. Leonard, RDP, West Islands and Anjou. Possibly some more that I do not really know of. Most stores WILL speek english. You should not need to worry about hotels/motels and such. It's only the citizens themselves you need to worry for.
As you know, Montreal is a large city. A large city means more drivers and more pedestrians. I do not know how it is in comparison to Sherbrooke but the drivers we have in Montreal are just nuttcases. On a side note, Montreal and some of it's "city-extensions" is, I believe, one of the only cities in Quebec where you CANNOT turn on a red light... so expect long line ups at a red light. Also. Most of the streets in Montreal will turn into one ways or are one ways themselves. Our traffic system is a little bit different from Ontario. The majority of street lights will inform you to go STRAIGHT and moments later you will be allowed to turn. As Mike just how many times I had to practically shout at him for turning or going straight when he's not supposed to. lol.
There are also a lot of places to go and places to see. However as I mentioned there are a lot of nuttcased drivers. So most of the streets will be conjested. Downtown Montreal is not recommended for a drivethrough UNLESS you like waiting a bajillion years. Also our highway system itself can get quite conjested... and there tends to be some sort of accident every other day in the fall/winter season.. I'm not too sure of it in the spring/summer season. There are a quite a number of places that would hold for a nice meet.. also some roads where speeding is made easily.
And I don't want to intrude in anyway as I may not quite be apart of the meet but....
Since you guys already started planning the location and voting upon it. Why not cast a voting [if editing for voting in this thread is possible]. And why not create a list of things you/we CAN do in the meet.
There's quite a number of things to do... I have a few I could suggest on the top of my head.

Paintballing (as Mike suggested)
Gokarting
Golfing
Bowling
Racetrack (located in St. Eustache)
Plain ol' car meet with no event and just relax in a parking lot
Bar-ing
Clubbing
Raving
Restaurant-ing
and of course
BBQ-ing!

Also there is a place in Montreal right off of the highway called "Orange Julep" aka "The Big Orange". There is oftenly a local car meet there every Thursday... and the food there is pretty good... the drink is even better.

This is all in respect to Montreal and it's 'city-extensions'. I do not know what it is like in Sherbrooke.

well thanks for that long story there TGC-Komodo. I appreicate some suggestions you made, but the thing is we also have to remember that not all members who are going to be coming are going to be interested in all of thouse activities. I know Sarah wouldnt be interested in doing paintball, plus if we go golfing or somethin like that, for people who do the sport will need to bring their clubs etc, and that takes up more room than needed. Anyways, i was hoping to make it a 2 day event in either Sherbrooke or the Montreal area, make the 1 day a meet and great and have a bit of a car show, then the second day we do something fun like go for a curise, go sight seeing or w/e. But i think that maybe on the Saturday night of the weekend we could maybe go clubbing because i think every one whos going to be coming will be over 18. But for somethin like that we can figure it out closer to the date. But right now i kinda wanna keep going with the list of people coming and voting for location. As soon as we figure out where we r gonna go/when we r gonna go, I will startup another thread with all the info about when, where, place to stay, etc. But as of right now i just wanna keep the people interested in coming and voting for the location.

You do realize that if it is in Quebec you should call it an East Canada Meet since it is almost impossible for any of us out west to make the drive!

I would go for sherbrooke just because I will certainly NOT enjoy driving in Montreal..!

I just drove on the highway there and it's nuts !!! and I don't think I will ever want to go there to joyride (isn't it what the meet is all about?)

Some members of Celica Québec that don't have 6th gen, when they learn about this meet, want to come too!! What you think Bryan? Most of them have 7th gens and 5th gens. So, do you want to keep it 6th gen only, or you're open to have some other Celica?

im open to any one whos got a toyota and doesnt have an attitude. I like the people from 6gc because no one here is cocky about their car or about them selves, thats one of the reasons i wanted to have a 6th gen only meet, but yea im open to people of other gens, but i kinda wanna keep it as a toyota only meet, or people who want toyota's. But yea, my friend jay and his gf are gonna b coming up in a Fiero and my buddy might b coming up with his Cavalier thats got some JDM Toyota Cavailer stuff on it. Personaly, the bigger the meet is, the better, just as long as every one gets along and has fun. I dont wanna b driving 11 hours to deal with drama.

I perfectly understand, and you won't have that kind of attitude, garanteed wink.gif

Now for the date, I suggest may 17th-18th, cauz it'a a long week-end in Canada (Victoria Day/Dollard-Des-Ormeaux' Day) That way, we're pretty sure to reach a maximum of poeple. smile.gif And for those who have to work on their rides, they'll have enough of warm days to finish their cars wink.gif

Yeah, I know, I think we'll have to wait until labor day in that case. Because there's no long week-end until then (Canada day is on tuesday this year) frown.gif

if my car is road-worthy
if i can get the time off
if it's above freezing on Victoria/Dollard Day
if it's in Sherbrooke (Montreal drivers scare me...been there, done that, have the t-shirt emotional scars. too bad 'cause i love the city)
if i can loose at least 15 kilos before the event

i would gladly drive the 13 hours to meet.

count me in as a loose maybe (sorry i have a serious comittment issue...it's called MARRIED WITH CHILDREN !!!!) wink.gif

PS why not Quebec City...it's the 400th and it would be special?
