When swapping the st205 3sgte engine into the GTS (GT) model do you need to changed the transmission as well? I'm asking this because I have talked to a shop that will be installing the ST205 3sgte engine in my car and he said no.

The shop is only charging me 5-6 grand canadian. Is that worth it?

Like the shop says, you do not need to swap the tranny. I've seen a USDM Celica GT with a 3S-GTE pushing 450+ horsepower on a stock tranny without problems. smile.gif

As far as pricing goes, does that price include the cost of the engine, or is that the price just for labor?

That price is for the st205 front clip being imported from Japan and including the installation. It is hard to believe but that was the price he told me. I was at his shop last week and this Japanese dude only does major modification for Toyota's. Mainly MR2's and the 5th gen Turbo Celica. Once I found that out I knew this guy must be trustable. I found him off the Greddy website since he is one of Greddy's authorize canadian dealers.

Thanks for the info coomer I jsut did a search and I foudn that info about the dude wtih the GT transmission pushing 450 HP. Thats crazy though. Did you find your guage for your car yet? I think I'm gonna need the guage changed on my car as well to get the higher RPM from the engine. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I don't change my guage or tachometer I won't be able to push it to the limit?

Your clip should come with the gauge cluster with the tach that has the higher numbers, but you don't need it, because your engine will redline at 7,000 RPM, and the stock tach goes up to 8,000. If I were you, I'd swap it over just so that your redline is in the correct place, but if you're not going to, then please let me know if I can buy it from you. I simply need a new one because my redline will be higher than 8,000 RPM, so I won't know exactly when to shift without a different tach.

And by the way, that sounds like a great price for all of that. smile.gif

You will first have to come down and make a down payment like 2 grand canadian since the shop will have to order the frontclip from Japan and have it imported. Then the shop will need your car for at least a 5-10 business days which is 2 weeks the most. If thats cool with you I can give you the shops phone number.
