celica seats

I was wondering if these seats were any good or should I look for some others. There pretty inexpensive for a set of seats which leads me to believe they are not very good quality, but if anyone has purchased them and can vouch for there quality it would be much appreciated.

When it comes to seats, stick with the following names:

Sparco
Recaro
Bride
Corbeau
Momo

These seats are expensive for a reason - they're good seats. They're not poorly made. They're made of good quality materials. eBay seats will no protect you at all.

Also - go sit in seats before you buy them. This way you don't get a seat that you feel is uncomfortable.

yea..also look somewhere on the seat for a little tag that says either DOT or FIA approved. If it doesnt have that, dont buy it. And definatly sit in a seat b4 u buy it. Every seat is designed differently. If you a bigger guy like me *about 6" 200lbs, not fat, but big*, go with a sparco or Corbeau. If your like 5'6 and skinny, go with a BRIDE, or Recaro seat. Bride seats, as cool and JDM as they are, they are also ment for the Japaneese domestic market, meaning they arent built for north americans. Ive tried to sit in my buddy BRIDE single peice seat in his S14, i couldnt get my hips into it.

Make sure what ever seat your gonna buy is A. comfortable, B. Safe, and C. REAL! there are THOUSANDS of knock off seats out there that just have the words embroydered into the head rests. Make sure it has that tag, and also another way to make sure its not a fake, if it has the brand name embroidered onto the headrest on both sides, its fake. Real BRIDES, Recaros, Sparcos, etc..only have it on 1 side. And buy from an actually dealer too, never e-bay things that have to do with safety.

Get some recaros bro. They are sooo comfortable. You can take a look at the evo recaro seats and make them fit in your car. Or just get some 7th gen seats. They are cheaper. You want info on those knockoffs check out evolutionmr.net. There are a few people who actually put those in their evos.

That brings an interesting question: Do the 7th gen seats fit into our cars using the same tracks?

nope...you have to modify the seat rails to make them fit. Also, puttin seats with modified seat rails into a car that they arent ment to be in can be as dangerous as puttin in thouse crappy no-name racing seats. Unless you have some one whos a lisenced welder and Tig welds your frame rails together so that there is ALOT of tensial strength there, dont get it done. Mig welds hold up alright, but they should be tig welded for safety reasons. You can usually get a shop to modify the brackets for about $100 or so.

ok thanks guys for all the info, I had a feeling those seats were not all what they were making them out to be. I really just need something to replace my original equipment or have mine re-upholstered, any ideas on what I can expect to spend if I choose to get them re skinned.

depending on the material, quality of work and where u go. It can cost any where between $400-3000 per seat. But thats all depending on the matieral. Another option you could do is go with a set of high quality seat covers through a company like Cover Kings

Zimluura got these ones from them

He got them from cover kind in black neoprene. I e-mailed them and got a quote for about $260ish for the front seats with a custom embroidered logo on them. They also send u sample materials if you e-mail them and ask for them. They would be a good choise too. They probably fit very well if you dismantel the side covers on your seats, but in the one picture you can see that Zimluura didnt do that and just kinda scrunched up the material over the handel for the recliner.

EDIT: Heres the link to the original seat cover thread

^^^ just dont expect them any time soon. It took me almost 4 and a half months to get my seat bases from Wedge. And that was just for a regular sparco base too, nothing custom.
