Hi all,
I am getting 600-700km per tank. (converts to about 370-430miles) I do city and highway, but my highway is usually in peak hour, so virtually all city driving. I have been happy with that, but anything better is always welcome. I'll try some injector cleaner and see if that helps, and my spark plugs are due to be changed (original and the car has done just under 70,000km's) How big is the fuel tank of a 6th gen ? I know it says 60L but that hasn't workout for me. I had the fuel light on for a few K's. filled up and it only took 48L's. Another time I had a quarter left, filled up and it only took 34L's. Makes me think its a 50L tank. |

QUOTE(frosty @ Dec 11, 2007 - 12:17 PM) I too have thought about running my gt with only 3/4 to 1/8 full to shave off fuel weight. I think you misunderstood me. I always have a full tank topped off. I meant if I ran it down to 1/2 a gallon left in the tank that I could probably push 500. QUOTE(tomazws @ Dec 14, 2007 - 10:26 PM) FOUR SEVENTY FIVE? Heh, its not really that hard folks. If you learn to properly drive you should be pulling over 400 a tank in a ST easily. I had my buddies Eddie Bauer Explorer pushing 25 mpg on our last trip when he can only average 18. I dont think his onboard dash has ever read anything over 20mpg when he has been in it. Its just understanding how much throttle is needed, when to let off, etc. Even if I pull spirited driving trips 3-4 times a week at night, plus driving in DC traffic I will still end up with over 400 every tank. There is also no reason to run 90+ octane in a stock Celi. Sure its only $3 extra to fill up, but running that every day is just pointless. Now if every 5k miles you run 90+ to give a clean burn then thats one thing. This post has been edited by Harold_Fastwaker: Dec 17, 2007 - 4:45 AM -------------------- |

Mine is about a tad over 400, never over 410. But 475 is amazing. My mission this week is to beat that record!

Well I have a 95 ST and my buddy has a 97 GT and according to the Toyota owners manuals we have 14 gallon tanks. Dunno the conversion to litres off the top of my head. -------------------- "He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends."

Could it be 60L excluding things like baffles, fuel pump and whatever other hardware exists inside a fuel tank? I've never put more than 48-49L in my tank. -------------------- |

I once put 13.9 gallons in my 14 gallon tank. That was a nervous drive to the gas station. I've never shifted so low.

I put the courtesy door light bulb in my gas tank this morning to muffle its rattling noise.
Side note: somewhere on this board is a thread about MPG - I don't have half an hour to spend looking for it, but someone made a post about figuring out your mileage w/out having to know your tank's capacity: Fill up once, drive, blah blah blah, fill up again and note how much gas went in on 2nd fill up. Divide number of miles, km, whatever on odometer by qty. of gas put in, and resulting # gives you your mpg. I average 28 but since it's gotten cold I'm getting like 26. Gonna (HOLY CRAP THE SUN IS OUT!!!) clean the throttle body this weekend if it's not pouring and see if that helps a tad. -------------------- |

i just checked mine, i'm getting about 19 mpg.
and it's mainly because i'm using a 'hot' thermostat making it run less efficient but helps the coolant heat up faster. an avg of 6 min remote start running time about 4 times a day (to and from school and work), and also because of all the snow i run over which is slowing me down a lot more. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
