Heard about this the other day. Saying that they "have better memory" may be too bold though - rather, I think it best to say their short term identifying/memory skills are better than ours.

No, what I mean by that is, are you actually kidding me that you took the topic title that's designed to attract attention like a newspaper headline, and tried to start some sort of debate over it's validity. I'm not making a claim, I just want people to wonder what it is and watch the video, my god. Take it for what it's worth: the impressive brainpower of chimps and go about your day thinking: I like chimps more now. I believe the chimp has done them all before. If you watch closely, half of the time he doesn't even look at the screen before the numbers are covered up.

If you watch closely, half of the time he doesn't even look at the screen before the numbers are covered up. The chimp looks at the screen every time, as it will not start until he hits the continue button. I'm fairly certain that the numbers are programmed to appear randomly, as the experiment would not be useful at all if he were just going through the movements and this is something easily identified as a confounding variable. If I were conducting this experiment, this would be one of the first things that would have been made sure of, and I've been conducting psychological experiments for only 2 years now.
