alright guys so after a huge deal with my valve cover leaking and all kinds of trouble... it turns out that when i took my oil pan off to inspect everything... i found a piston rod end cap just hanging out in there with the two bolts as well.... so my number two piston is shot i believe and who knows about the other pistons or the crank for that matter.... so the whole engine is getting pulled out as we speak and torn down... currently i have forged pistons but i need to know what all i should do while i'm tearing this thing down...all the seals and gaskets were just replaced (within 200 miles) and the valves cleaned up and redone... so i would rather not take the valves apart... thanks a lot... check my profile for the specs of the engine (i'm just thankful that my $1500 turbo is still in good condition... i think)

well here's what i'm thinking.... my buddy that works for nissan is giving me a hand with this.... but i have almost all brand new forged pistons and rods in this thing so i might be able to salvage three of them with no problem... we have no idea what the piston walls look like... they might be perfect as the entire engine was just rebuilt and resurfaced and the whole deal....... as for the number two piston... all we know is that the end cap is off and its in the up position... it might be seized... it might still be perfect.... we don't know... i'd rather not buy a whole new short block if this one is salvageable with the forged internals... but what should i do with the engine apart??? razor edge it? re-hone? any ideas?

that motors been rebuilt before. chances are that your bottom end issue will come back yet again. a quick and dirty bearing swap is just going to come back to haunt you later on.

take the whole thing apart. check the walls, have the line bore checked and have the crank and rod ends checked.
