i was reading in the bgb about the installation of the pistons. the piston has a dimple on top and needs to face to the timing side. the connecting rod has a marking on it but i'm not sure what the marking is of. the rod cap has a marking as well. anyone know what these marking look like. and also is this crucial to the engine...does it balance it or something...just wondering?

The mark on the con rod needs to be on the same side as the mark on the cap. The mark is probably just a line.

yeah it is really important that it is all lined up right. because of the wear pattern that gets created.
