hey guys,
I put this insulation blanket on temporarily on my intake as seen in the picture to keep it cooler since i felt the pipe get pretty hot. the pipe did feel much cooler when i had it on so i'm thinking about having the guys at my work custom make one for my intake that would cover it end to end, stopping at the filter. ofcourse, there would not be a need for duct tape anymore . What do you guys think, would it make any difference on performance either way? I don't want the hassle if not worth it. Thanks... -------------------- |

ey how much for a sheet that long? any way i can buy a slice from ya? i can jus put some rings around it n tighten it up for a good fit.
as for performance wise, i duno how much of gain there would be..assuming there is one :X -------------------- Pandelica 2.0 in progress. |

well the cooler the air the better your chances for a complete burn in the combustion chamber. so it would be helpful. personally i would just go to like advance auto or autozone and buy the stuff that is used to wrap the exhaust manifold and use that around the intake. it still works off from the same concept for the manifold just in a reverse process for the intake keeps the cool air in and the hot air out.

well, i was thinking about wrapping as well, but the carb legal sticker will be on the intake. so incase anyone needs to see that, i figured removable will be a good idea. They take the measurement and make it fit perfect and it stays on with velcro.
xs94st: i could give you this one, once i'm done experimenting. -------------------- |

gnarly sounds like a plan
my SRI is fairly shorter than your GT's injen so im sure it would fit jus fine..i have yet to buy exhaust wrap for my headers so i guess once i do that i will keep the rest for my SRI n wrap it like wrath had suggested -------------------- Pandelica 2.0 in progress. |

hmm, dunno how much that would help performance. yeah the pipe is cooler, but it'll still be sucking in hot air from the engine bay. aftermarket intakes only add about 3-5 hp anyways. if it doesn't cost too much to make one then go for it.

I wrapped my custom SRI as well but I used a thermal wrap.
Here's the thread with the pics. I felt a little improvement in the performance. My SRI and Custom heat shield box -------------------- -Derick
