How would one go about gutting a downpipe, cat or things of that sort? And what cautionary advice is there too, such as "dont make it __ thin" yada yada.

Thanks smile.gif

Little to no actual gains and you'll never pass smog. Cats are very expensive... I don't know why people would even consider gutting them...

step 1) take it off your car

step 2) take hammer and chissle and hammer away at knocking the honeycome structure out

step 3) replace

step 4) cry blood when you need to get a smog check.

drive car to local exhaust shop

have them take off your entire exhaust system

if turbo have them put on 4" exhaust pipes
if not turbo have them put on 2.25" exhaust pipes

add muffle if you wish, if not, enjoy your new straight pipe setup with minimal flow inhibitors!!

again.. unless you are pushing some serious boost (like 20lbs+) theres no need to have that free flowing of an exhaust, and like prevously said the small gains are not worth the headache for smog (which 20lbs of boost in a setup prolly wont pass either)
