I love my celica st, it has the right amount of power for me and even though its a coupe and a automatic, I still love it. The performance and all is just right for me. So what should I do, my boyfriend has a Firebird Trans AM and he has a kit on his car and it really doesn't affect his performance, but with my little four cylinder would it mess with my performance alot or would it be worth it? Thanks and do any one know of any kits out there that looks about like a kit for the 2000 firebird trans am?

let me get this straight, you want a kit that makes your celi look like a transam? sorry but I don't see much point in that seeing as our cars are infinitely more asthetically pleasing. tongue.gif

as for your question, yes, adding a kit is weight therefore it will make your car slower. however if you aren't going for performance you might as well go all show.

Its all in preference. Granted it adds some weight, but it wont hinder it all too much. (i mean our cars arent that fast anyways) Personally The only kits I like are really expensive, but look great when they are on. And the only kit Made to fit a celica and look like a TA is available through, www.importwannabemuscle.com

Hahaha j/j. I saw a ford focus with a kit that resembled a firbird/transam. Good luck with your car tho. rolleyes.gif

Hay thanks yal... but the www.importwannabemuscle.com didn't work, whats wrong...?

AND NO I DON'T WANT IT TO LOOK EXACTLY LIKE A FIREBIRD, But I want to come as close as I can of getting the same show appeal as my boyfriend's Trans AM but not over doing it, NOT LIKE THE CRAP THAT THEY HAVE IN SUPER STREET AND IMPORT TUNER MAGAZINES AND 5.0 MUSTANGS, but like they have in GM HIGH-TECH PERFORMANCE magazine.

Whats the kit your boyfriend has on his trans am? If you can't find one. You can always make one. There is a thread around here that shows you how to make your own kit.

Thanks yal... And no I don't know what yal mean ugly, I kinda like the firebirds and camaros and vettes myself. I will say this though the people who drive them have huge ego problems though and I wanted to show my friends and my boyfriend and his palies that an import could look as good or better and perform nicely and all too. The performance we settled coming down the interstate at one time. We noticed as long as you didn't try to break the speed limit, my car was nice and stable with a little bit more subtle but quicker throttle response with my auto than his auto, so now its down to looks and that is where it must come to an end...

I was talking about the kit for my man's firebird trans am is:
Firebird Trans AM picture of kit

and this is some of our friends camaros kits...:

I though this kit made my car look like theres do in some ways:
The Kit I was thinking of...

Tell me what disadvantages might I have with this kit since I have a coupe and not a hatchback or liftback 3dr celica? How low is the kit and does it make the car look more sporty...?

the z-style kit will make your front fascia substantially lower. however you shouldn't have any major problems as long as you stay stock height.

since you have a coupe the rear of the kit will have to be modified inorder to fit properly. any good shop should be able to do this work for ~500 or so.

here is an example of how the rear will look:
