What kind of windshield wipers do you guys usually buy to replace your old ones?

Also, Im gonna get my oil changed at the dealer this weekend, is there any other inspection I should have done while im there?

air filter, spark plugs / wires, when was the last timing belt changed ?

most of this stuff you can do on your own.

P.S. my Celica is also used laugh.gif

I use Trico if I remember correctly... I honestly think most of the blades out there are pretty comparable, living in the PNW you tend to gain quite a bit of experience with them! Just get something that's silicone coated so they don't squeak. That's the absolute worst.

OHH I meant to say that I picked it up used.. something along the lines of that lol..

what would be the best place to get replacement wipers? cause I really dont like going to pep boys. Griffgirl I'll be sure to get the silicone ones, cause the ones on my car right now not only squeak, but kind of skid along the windshield.. xD

NAPA auto parts, IDK what's in your area. Checker's/Schuck's/Kragen? Those may just be in the wild wild west though. I never bought auto parts when I lived on the east coast, come to think of it. I never even bought a car until I was 25, and that was just to get to the west coast!

BTW, why are you getting your oil done at a dealership? Did you buy your car from a dealer and they said they'd do an oil change for you? Most dealerships charge way more for an oil change than say Jiffy Lube. If you're not ready to do your own oil change yet, you can Jiffy Lube it for $25 bucks for regular oil or around $35-ish for synthetic blend.

well the last time I went to pep boys to get some oil for my dad's accord, their high mileage oil alone costs the same as a change at a dealership.. maybe I did something wrong?

Where are you getting full synthetic for less than 15 bucks? Around here Mobile1 Full Syn is 6 bucks a quart... times 4 plus a filter (around ten bucks)=about $35 for DIY oil change (we don't have sales tax!)

i'd get the rainx wiperblades if u have alot of rain in the area. they contour to the car's window. n u can get the spray treatment that help with water staying off your windshield.

thats what i'd get.

get a drop in air filter (if you're not going to get a cold air intake (CAI) or short ram intake (SRI))

replace spark plugs with NGKs or toyota's own

spark plug wires

the oil change (Mobil1 synthetic is used by toyota, so i'd suggest that or Royal Purple fully synthetic oil)

check your tires

check alignment (if it feels a lil off)

check your brakes (pads and shoes if applicable)

check your power steering fluid

check belts for wear

uhhh thats all i can think of rite now smile.gif

congrats on the car, looks very clean n well taken care of biggrin.gif

I can go to walmart and get 5qts of high mileage oil and a high mileage oil filter for about 18 bucks. Then again I do live next to the largest oil refinery in the country.....

the local checker autoparts had it on sale for like 3 dollars a quart. i can't remember the brand. it wasn't some no name brand but i just can't remember LOL. if i had bought 6+ i coulda gotten a mail in rebate to make them only like 2 for a quart biggrin.gif
i was pretty happy with my find. i have never paid more than 20 bucks to change my own oil. nor would i ever pay someone else to do it.

x2

The last time I ever had a shop change my oil the guy asked me what kind of car I had. He got oil on my bumper. They ripped the hood release lever out of my dash and didn't say anything about it. And they told me I needed an engine flush for 70 bucks because my oil was dark. Maybe I'm missing something but isn't used oil, um, supposed to be dark?

well the oil in my car is like a dark brown, and the oil level is fairly low (i'd say 1/4? on the stick)

also the engine response feels a bit sluggish.. although these cars do have tiny engines so that might just be me adjusting from my sequoia and accord

For your wipers, you can get some(I guess they are called wiper blade assemblies) on NOPI online that are "carbon fiber" to give you a little flair and then you can get the blades in different colors as well, wiper blades are for the most part wiper blades except the whole silicone thing.... other than that, get spray on rain-x to help it all out...... get your coolant checked to see if its dirty or if its all good too
