OK turns out two of the ring lands on #1 Piston were broken as well as the headgasket being blown between #1 and #2. So new pistons and rings are on their overnight way here - should be here early this morning and the rebuild begins.
The machined and assembled head were delivered this morning via MR2T biggrin.gif
The engine should be back in tommorrow evening.
So the parts go:
-New Pistons/Rings .020 over
-TTE Metal Headgasket
-ARP Head Studs and Bolts
-Main Bearings
-Rod Bearings
-Thrust Washers
-Valve Seals
-Main Seals
-Valve Cover Gasket
-Water pump
-Oil pump
-Timing Belt
-Distributer Seal
-NGK Irridium Plugs
-Cap and Rotor
-Toyota for life coolant

And I think that's everything. She's also getting a new ACT stage 2 clutch and Pennzoil Syncromesh.

Anybody know if it's OK to break in the new motor on Mobile 15w-50? I've heard conflicting reports that regular Dino oil [which I am using to flush out the block] must be used for the breakin period but I also searched on here and found that 6 out of every 10 Toyota cars ship with Mobile 1 fully synthetic and thats what the car will always recieve from here on out.
Opinions?

Here are some pics of the 6yo ACT clutch that came out of my car and the brand new one thats going in. Much thanks to 94celgt for including that and the oil pump in the deal:
Used ACT Clutch:
IPB Image
I can not illustrate better why I love ACT clutches. I have owned many in my lifetime and not one of them has ever let me down. This one held up to 6 years of 3S-GTE punishment.
New ACT Clutch:

New Pistons and Rings:

I'll have more pics on the motor build later. As it stands the motor is now assembled and ready to go back into the car along with the new clutch and the Kirkasaurus motor mount poly fills. She'll be running in less than 24 hours biggrin.gif

Had a small problem with one of the ARP headstuds stretching. At least this one will be a free replacement from Chris K.
Be back after I get that replaced.

Lol I put a lot of aftermarket body parts on that thing... you got a lot to remove... why not put it back to how it looked when I got it. Gold rims and stuff... Pure sexy!

Sorry man - my vision of her future is slightly diff. I totally dig the way you had it tho.
-The broken hood will be coming off as soon as she is running right and being replaced by a GT4 WRC Hood [hopefully with spoiler since I have the holes]
-I like the facelift front best of all the stock versions so thats staying
-OEM front splitters to match the back
-The sideskirts however are subtle enough for my tastes and look really nice so those will stay

Don't worry - girls like to change their look often biggrin.gif

Yeah I know - I personally think it looks great that way. Just a matter of opinion I guess.

Look - I've been through this before and I'm not the only one who thinks so. I personally don't like the c1 look or the stock GT4 front. Those fronts are too square and the entire car is rounded - just doesn't flow. Last time I did this everyone said how awful it would look and when it was all said and done I got massive compliments from everyone. Everyone has their opinions - especially when it comes to bodykits. That's why there are so many to choose from.

Update: The new ARP Headbolt is coming in today so everyone wish me luck as this is the last thing I should need and the motor is sitting there 80% done and waiting. Should be putting the motor back in tom if all goes well and beginning her gentle break-in period after that.
BTW - I've been talking to snapshotgt and hopefully I will be buying his spare E153 for her next big upgrade. Got to start looking for the rear ST-205 mount and figure out what to do about the axle situation.

UPDATE [01-13-08]:

She's alive!!!!!
Had her purren beautifully last night. Got about 100miles on her new engine and clutch and then gave her just a few PSI of boost and my god!
The downside: Popped a couple of vac lines loose, found one and she idles again but a little rough. So I just gotta find the other one and fix it.
But she runs great!
I have a few swap issues to deal with like the no speedo and I strongly suspect I'm not getting codes from the ecu cause I've yet to see one but these things will be perfect in time. Just glad to have her running. biggrin.gif
