Hey, ive never done a sound system before, but i have two 12" JL Audio 12W0 8ohm subs. What need know is what kind of amp i would need to run these. Would a JL Audio 250/1 work? Im just a little thrown off by the 8ohm aspect of the subs. And how many channels i would need on the amp if i just wanted to run the subs. If anyone could give me a little info, and help clarify some things for me thatd be great. smile.gif

The JL Audio 250/1 will be a good amp to use with these subs as the 12w0 subs are made to perform well with little power. The nominal power for these subs are 125 Watt RMS. So the 250 will work well with them.

Wire the two 8ohm subs in paralell then the amp will only see a 4ohm load and be twice as loud as running an 8ohm load.
See here on how to wire in paralell

8ga should work but i think that 4ga would be better and leave a little room if you wanna upgrade, and if you are getting a mono amp then you dont need to worry about the channels just wire the speakers in series to a 4ohm load and run it off of one channel.

4ga wire will be fine with power up to around 1200 watts so if you wanna get a bigger amp in the future you wont have to go threw all the trouble of running new wire and all that you will be fine just to put in the new amp

use 4 gauge wire and go with the JL amp... the 250.1 is perfect at 4 ohms for those subs... wire them in parallel like said above... this is a pretty simple setup and should sound good... do not wire them in series... you do not want a 16 ohm load smile.gif... go with the link above for wiring in parallel

no stick with JL stuff... they put a lot of quality parts in and have several more safety features... i've personally only ever liked alpine head units and speakers... thats just my preference though...
